if you cant find the incosistency with crude oil prices and gas at the pump over the last eight years, then my point is lost, (late 2009 they halfed, but we didnt see that happen at the pump)

and your a man who cries for less govt spending and fair blah blah blah but

do you support the subsidy program?

and keystone would not have dropped prices, when none of the final product would be sold in america or guaranteed to america, but would have used our currently overburdened refinerys, which would only promise to raise prices more.

a commercial of lies perhaps? who woulda thunk it

Re: Political Commercials

with this said, why is it obamas fault gas prices have risen? he is to blame for inflation too right? lets blame the stock market on him aswell why not

Re: Political Commercials

"with this said, why is it obamas fault gas prices have risen?"

Because prices are based on futures. When people know prices are going to go up, they buy now. If prices were going to go down, they'd sell now to cut their losses. (The price change is more immediate in either case--It doesn't inherently raise prices that speculators effect the market.)

Obama bans drilling everywhere he can. As world demand increases and Obama does all he can to keep production as low as he can, obviously he contributes to high prices.

"he is to blame for inflation too right?"

Inflation is not a magical beast. Inflation is what happens when the fed prints massive amounts of money to buy government debt. Obama has contributed to inflation by spending at a rate nobody has ever spent before, which the fed picks up the printing to keep up with. Obama has contributed to inflation with his massive stimulus bills.

"lets blame the stock market on him aswell why not"

The stock market is an awesome thing. But no, he doesn't get credit for it. He didn't create it. You sound a little confused.

Re: Political Commercials

Iranian crisis as well, to toss sanctions without considering world supply demand lacked foresight. Punish Iran for doing what they are doing? fine, but plan for it.

Re: Political Commercials

Yup. And the Iranian crisis hurts us more because we choose not to drill nearly as much as we could. We choose to be so dependent upon world oil producers for what we could produce most of ourselves.

Re: Political Commercials

Obama has enabled regulation that prevents new coal fired facilities this week.

He has reduced drilling on Federal lands by 40% (I think 50% of the nation is Federal lands).

He has utterly killed off shore oil drilling.

He has caused prices to go up directly attributable to his actions. If he hired Cheney to direct the oil policies of America, got completely out of the way, prices would plummet tp $3.50 in the first month, in six months it would be $3.00 a gallon, and in a year $2.50 a gallon.

Re: Political Commercials

Are adverts like that what debate has reduced to? Superficial, potentially unrelated one line sentences strung one after the other into 30 seconds. I can see the power in them in terms of brainwashing propaganda, but do they really raise any valid points, present any logical arguments or add anything to a credible discussion? Seems like politics for people without any notable attention span or any notion of critical thinking. Just swallow the message then move along.

Re: Political Commercials

Facts on a subject, laid out in a quick ad format, in sequence to describe an event.

That was a good ad. No propoganda at all, just facts. Dismissing it does not reduce the power of the message.

Re: Political Commercials

The average viewer is barely above retarded, and a "better" ad for more intelligent people would be a bad ad for the majority of viewers. I have plenty of comments that would make the ad much, much better for an intelligent, informed viewer. But the ad isn't and probably shouldn't be designed in such a way.

I seriously hate marketing because it generally entails catering a message to morons. tongue

Re: Political Commercials

Agreed V.Kemp - the great flaw in democracy.

Flint, I would dismiss the advert whether it is entirely true or entirely false and it is the power of the message which is the worrying part about it. I am not just criticising this advert, but all adverts of this style regardless of political colour.
