Chavez proposed a spy-resolution to the parliament wich practicly obliged people to be a secret service informant. He had to withdraw his proposal because of the huge pressure. They have a long tradition of democracy in that country.
Personally, I think its a good case this law will never get passed. We've seen enough totalitarianism.

yeah the link isn't very clear to me either.
Also I'm aware it all has nothing to do with obama or McCain. I posted it in politics anyhow.
I don't think Yell was referring to Venezuela when he made that post. I think he meant that we embargo Cuba partially because the people there pretty much do what Chavez wants his people to do in Venezuela.
You can leave some clue if you do that (but to his defence, I thought the same as you there imediately).
But this forum shouldn't be personal. And its an intresting toppic. Castro is(let us say was 
)head of a totalitarian regime. Nobody doubts the power lays in the hands of a few. Maybe I should start a toppic about this issue. Tomorow I got a day of so maybe I'll try to start a debate that leads us somewhere.
Are you saying you won't report your neighbour if he's a drug dealer?
That is something totally different as becoming an informant. There is a disctinct difference between the SECRET services and the official policeforce.
