Re: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

Direct abortion is "intrinsicly evil" in that nobody had it coming.  It is morally possible that we had to bomb the crap out of Germany, and then execute the Nazi leaders, in response to what they were doing.  Abortion is just to kill people you don't want around anymore, regardless of how they behave.

Also nobody rooted to impose govt funding for abortion on us, and actually Obama lied about never doing it.

Re: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

Yell,

Abortion is not evil, because the concept of god and morality are make believe. Though there is sometimes peace, it is bought with fear and blood.

We can talk about desires and evidence without appealing to fantasy, and I desire cheap sex and freedom. If the price is a human in the microscopic stage of development, then such a price is irrelevant to me. I'm willing to compromise on late-term abortions and such, but if you want to impose your fictitious beliefs on me and take away contraception and abortion completely, then it's war.

That said, I agree that imposing these services on religious institutions violates religious freedom and is stupid. Although I'm a secularist, I don't stand for policies that only serve to provoke the religious right and offer little gain, like this one. In fact, I am in favor of letting religious groups enjoy semi-sovereignty. Let them have their religious utopia, even let them punish to a certain degree. That way the secular majority can enjoy freedom and cheap sex, and the loonies will go away and live their religious utopia. We shall only interact with one another in commerce, or, should the times call for it, united in arms against in defense of our nation.

Re: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

Justinian I, his argument had absolutely nothing to do with any concept of god. Epic fail.

The idea that morality is make-believe is a silly and naive. Human history and psychology both just called you stupid.

I am well aware of feeble human attempts to justify moral realism, but they have all failed. As for psychology, I am not sure what you're getting at. Our impulses to care and reciprocate? I'm not denying they exist. But if you are arguing that they are evidence for morality, then you are confused.

Sure, you get groups of people that disapprove, some may even protest, but these are small groups incapable of swinging public opinion/support. A change though, is seen by everyone at the same time, and issues are all in the face of the US citizens...

Most people just ignore that fact due to propeganda fed to them, they think its for their selfdefence. why protest against something wich is threatening your country? (talking about the public made opinion that is) people reason if u protest against fighting terrorism then you must be on their side!

abortion we take away something wich spawns life, or as other people say take a life.
protests like these makes the perfect cover for other important stuff going on 'behind our backs'

A just war.  A war you can feel good about, as opposed to abortion.

If one believes is well timed coincidences of course.

Talking about a tiny handful of cases of waterboarding, where the subject was informed that he would not be killed or permanently harmed, as if it was bone splitting, burning, nail ripping, body-stretching, deadly torture is stupid. If you have a point, state it clearly. Saying HEY I NEED TO PRETEND IT'S DIFFERENT THAN IT IS doesn't show us that you're confident in your position.

Re: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

Did anyone else see the video of her testifying?  That bitch is definitely a practice girl if anything with her but-her-face.  However, i think the slut comment in and of itself is pretty ignorant when many women take birth control for other gross reasons.  If she wants to get plowed by a fraternity on a Tuesday night after too much boones farm wine then she can just buy a pack of condoms or get them free from planned parenthood.

So I told the cop, "No YOU'RE driving under the influence... of being a JERK!"

Re: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

I did some research and found you can get condoms for 15 cents (For those not know the conversion, 100 cents = 1 dollar).

Now $3000 would equal 20,000 condoms. As there is 365 days a year that would be 54.8 condoms a night.

Now I can attest that no single man could feasibly perform that much a night, so we need to include extra men in the figures.

Let's call it 6 condoms per man, per a night... that comes down to 9 men.

Now why she buys them is ofc beyond me, most men would willingly buy some or all themselves.

Now assuming each man lasts approximately 5-10 minutes (for purposes of this demonstration) and the lady umm... can assist two men at once... this would be 135 minutes to 270 minutes. So said activity would be last between two hours fifteen minutes to four and a half hours, excluding any breaks.

So we have a lady with 9 male lovers every night, participating wildy (no laying on your back when taking two men at once) with between two to four and a half hours a day involved... and Rush called her a slut.

The dictionary refers to a slut as a very sexually active (aka many different partners) female.

To be frank and honest, if I was a woman and had that large a train per a night... by all means... call me a slut.

Oh im totally against the argument for the mandatory birth control insurance plan as it is against many legal principles.

Im merely saying that his labeling her a slut for the sole reason of birth control was an ignorant and inappropriate comment.  Im sure she is a slut but not simply because she takes birth control.  She's a slut because shes a practice girl

yeah they should bring her back to testify

I want to hear all about how women need birth control for hormone therapy

and at the end Issa can thank her and she totally proved that women need birth control for hormone therapy

so it isn't preventative care

so HHS can't mandate plans cover it as preventative care

Re: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

Noir, I'm saying that, if you believe that the US "has its hands in worse matters than abortion," you should probably state what they are. Pretending that Americans eat live orphan children and carpet bomb Chinese residential neighborhoods is just stupid and detracts from whatever point you may have. I'm essentially saying, if you're going to post dishonestly, I'm just going to mock you for being stupid. I can't respond to dishonest, completely bullshit posts genuinely; that'd be pointless and stupid.

I don't mean "you" literally: I'm referring to everyone who posted as if waterboarding is bone-splitting, mutilating, flesh-searing, nail-ripping, deadly torture. To pretend they're equal in any capacity is just stupid and dishonest on its face.

Debating the morality of waterboarding is perfectly legitimate; I'm not calling anyone stupid for that. But to pretend you can find no differenec between it and the "other" "tortures" I mentioned above is just ridiculously silly.

Dpenguins, insofar as Rush was commenting on how much activity she'd have to have for her birth control to cost that amount, the slut comment was pertinent to the topic and relevant to his point. He's an entertainer not any official's political advisor or spokesman--While I would have stuck to the content and why she's ridiculous and wrong, he's an entertainer and he's going to say whatever he feels like and whatever his audience keeps listening to.

It seems like a really non-story, considering he's not a public official or a public official's staff. I don't listen to him or care what he says any more than when Bill Mahr or any other idiot in the media says something really, really offensive. It happens all the time. Why is this such a big news story? Seems like some want to talk about a random entertainer being rude over a woman being stupid a lot more than its newsworthiness merits.

Re: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

She had an oped in CNN today

"Editor's note: Sandra Fluke is a third-year law student at Georgetown University Law Center and has served as president of Georgetown Law Students for Reproductive Justice.
(CNN) -- Last month, students from several Catholic universities gathered to send a message to the nation that contraception is basic health care. I was among them, and I was proud to share the stories of my friends at Georgetown Law who have suffered dire medical consequences because our student insurance does not cover contraception for the purpose of preventing pregnancy.
I joined these students in speaking at a media event because I believe that stories of how real women are affected are the most powerful argument for access to affordable, quality reproductive health care services.
I also joined these students because now is a critical time to raise this issue in our public consciousness.
Thanks to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, preventive care services, including contraception, will be covered by private insurance plans without co-pays or deductibles. If appropriately implemented, this important law will finally guarantee women access to contraception, regardless of the religious affiliation of their workplace or school.
Obama calls contraception advocate Rush's 'slut' attack sparks furor Rush Limbaugh's apology spin
By now, many have heard the stories I wanted to share thanks to the congressional leaders and members of the media who have supported me and millions of women in speaking out.
Because we spoke so loudly, opponents of reproductive health access demonized and smeared me and others on the public airwaves. These smears are obvious attempts to distract from meaningful policy discussions and to silence women's voices regarding their own health care.
These attempts to silence women and the men who support them have clearly failed. I know this because I have received so many messages of support from across the country -- women and men speaking out because they agree that contraception needs to be treated as a basic health care service.
Who are these supporters?
They are women with polycystic ovarian syndrome, who need contraception to prevent cysts from growing on their ovaries, which if unaddressed can lead to infertility and deadly ovarian cancer. They are sexual assault victims, who need contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
They are Catholic women, who see no conflict between their social justice -based faith and family planning. They are new moms, whose doctors fear that another pregnancy too soon could jeopardize the mother's health and the potential child's health too. They are mothers and grandmothers who remember all too well what it was like to be called names decades ago, when they were fighting for a job, for health care benefits, for equality.
They are husbands, partners, boyfriends and male friends who know that without access to contraception, the women they care about can face unfair obstacles to participating in public life. And yes, they are young women of all income levels, races, classes and ethnicities who need access to contraception to control their reproduction, pursue their education and career goals and prevent unintended pregnancy. And they will not be silenced.
These women know how expensive birth control pills can be, with or without insurance coverage. For a single mother with kids, a woman making minimum wage, or a student living on loans, a high monthly co-pay could be the difference between buying contraception or one week of groceries.
And imagine the financial burden of unplanned pregnancy and raising a child. For women without insurance coverage or with insurance that doesn't cover contraception, the costs create a significant financial burden.
iReporter on the contraception debate
Many women cannot medically use the least expensive types of contraception. As a result, many women, especially those 18 to 34 who have the most trouble affording contraception, simply go without. They face any number of medical risks as well as unintended pregnancy -- all of which damage their productivity and the health of their families.
Most recently, certain political commentators have started spreading misinformation about the underlying government regulation we are discussing. To be clear, through programs such as Medicaid, the government already does and should fund contraception coverage for the poorest women in our country.
But, despite the misinformation being spread, the regulation under discussion has absolutely nothing to do with government funding: It is all about the insurance policies provided by private employers and universities that are financed by individual workers, students and their families -- not taxpayers.
I am talking about women who, despite paying their own premiums, cannot obtain coverage of contraception on their private insurance, even when their employer or university contributes nothing to that insurance.
Restricting access to such a basic health care service, which 99% of sexually experienced American women have used and 62% of American women are using right now, is out of touch with public sentiment. In fact, more than 60% of Americans support this regulation and affordable access to contraception, according to the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation.
Attacking me and women who use contraception by calling us prostitutes and worse cannot silence us.
I am proud to stand with the millions of women and men who recognize that our government should legislate according to the reality of our lives -- not for ideology."
