Topic: Rush Limbaugh and the slut comment

Well Rush made a comment that a lady who gets paid is a slut or whore, and therefore someone accepting government money for birth control is a slut or whore... and called the lady commenting via comparison a slut. Rush has since apologized for calling her such, saying he is fighting a bedroom mandate.

A number of companies have quit advertising on his show.

Some were pure plain canards.

Conservatives found Carbonites CEO is an Obama supporter.

Carbonite dropped rush.

Since then the Conservatives have been canceling their accounts. Word is that the cancelation line is so busy many are still trying to get through to cancel.

Carbonite survived using older technology and even thrived based on ads on Conservative talk shows.




They lost 12% of their value in one day of stock trading.


Some analyists suspect more than 50% may be lost in the next month. I predict this company is in bankruptcy court by December.




Other companies, AOL (owned by Huffington Post), Sleep Train, Sleep Number, and such have pulled out.

I was probably going to buy a bed from Sleep Number in the next month for this truck. The current mattress is 'worn out'.

I definitely will not be doing so now. This is echoed by the listeners of Rush Limbaugh, and indeed by many who used to listen to him.




Rush Limbaugh is the highest paid talk show host in the world with the largest radio following in the world. As much as 1/3 of his listeners self identify as Democrats making him one of the few hosts to have a defined cross party listener base.




I do not hear him anymore since I do not know his stations or even times he plays. I support him entirely though, and many millions more support him.

Such sexist views here placing the whole responsibility of birth control on women....

I cannot seriously see how this is even an issue. If the elected majority supports coverage of safe sex and birth control as a part of healthcare coverage, then that is how it should be. Wether or not the protestors end up covering a part of that bill is completely irrelevant and its frankly something they just have to accept.

This is for instance the same situation you have when anti-war supports end up paying military expenses when US goes to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, or when they pay billions in support to Isreal. You simply cannot have your cake and eat it too

Then you have to suck it up, if you dont want to cover healthcare for the members of your society, then i am afraid you need to make sure there is a new president, or move to a different country.

It is not up to you to define what part of the social welfare contract you want to uphold, you need to accept it as it is until you can elect a new government.

Why did he apologize? She's a an idiot political activist whose testimony made it clear that his description was apt.

I don't listen to him, but his comments weren't outrageous.

If you're 30, getting a graduate degree, can't find birth control for less than $3000, and can't afford birth control, that sounds like a whole LOT of personal fail. To put that on me or anyone else certainly makes someone a dumb slut deserving of ridicule.

i dunno, birth control is alot cheaper than actually having kids. Maybe we can make it mandatory that the *insert ghetto, barrio trailer park name*  who has 5 kids by different daddy's collecting welfare should go on it.

Also, and im sure i will be corrected, this wouldn't be tax payer paid, but makes insurance companies include birth control in the coverage.  The way my insurance goes, I have to work and pay into the health n welfare 300 hours a quarter to recieve insurance. If I don't meet that I am able to buy cobra ( my money out of pocket ) to be covered.

Hell I used to get condoms when I was married for $0.25 each (variety pack no less) averaged.

Apparently the number of national show commercials (the ones that pay Rush) versus local station commercials (which Rush does not get money from) quitting is quite different

ABC is quoting 32, but the vast majority are locals...

Rush says three that quit want back.... and one is begging...

Rush is also adding three new national sponsors.




Reports of his demise were greatly exagerated.



The one who is losing is Mr. Friend, the CEO of Carbonite.

Because the abortion issue is a change to the status quo...WMD, capital punishment, torture, and most other social issues that are simply shrugged off, have all been around for so long that it is just normal. Sure, you get groups of people that disapprove, some may even protest, but these are small groups incapable of swinging public opinion/support. A change though, is seen by everyone at the same time, and issues are all in the face of the US citizens...
