i thought with the sd starting resources 250cf actually works when u expo iron planets and build mines. i cant remember anymore

^pretty much what i had planned.. Makes much more sense to go almost full cf, with a few endos.. and grab resource planets you big bunch of noobs..

What I had already wondered before but even more now in a SD without market... Why have so many players chosen Quantams?

Quantams aren't bad, as a matter of fact I had chosen them myself (in beta 1 *grin).

They have a decent 30% income bonus but you could get better with a custom race nor do they have good speed values and no attack bonus at all. They have the best available bonus in research but in a 1-month round research isn't very important and even less so when there is no market and thus no full specialization possible which would make research a bit more interesting. Well, they do have a wide range of ops but that will not let you win the round.

So, I wonder... anybody here who can enlighten me what's the logic behind 42 (!!!) players going for Quantam? I am really curious.

For one, the ops are huge in a hardcore galaxy and the range that Quantum offers is very nice!

As well, it does still offer 30% income with TO's AND droids along with a really nice research. Now, I am not sure why you would ever use TO's in a non market round but you never know if someone will take a shot at it.

Speed doesnt really matter....not if you can sab every portal someone has and then take your time crushing them. Nukes can be a real game changer as well...

and to top it all off, if done properly even in a 1 month round research can make a huge difference in either income, or resource production

u cant afford building to's if you have to build mines refs and all that aswell.
the good reason would be the 70% rc wich wil be a great asset for a HC round.
