Topic: The Rise of Newt Gingrich

Well at this point Newt is kicking ass. His campaign just scored a major triumph over Mitt Romney.

And then there was the South Carolina success.

The victory is that Jeb Bush was said to be waiting to endorse Mitt Romney in Florida's Primary, close to the Primary. These rumors circulated forever with no counters from Jeb or Mitt.

Suddenly Newt slams down in SC and Jeb makes an announcement right after... yes right after the vote, that he will endorse no one, and that Mitt by the way should release his tax records.

That is as stunning of evidence of a backwalk as there can be.

Florida is a winner take all State, and remarkably Newt in the last two debates moved neck and neck with Mitt there (in polls). An endorsement by Jeb would have potentially sealed it for Mitt, but now if Jeb is backwalking, it almost certainly shows he thinks Newt is going to win in Florida.

If Newt wins Florida he will knock Santorum out, and put Ron Paul in the kiddie seat at the table. Since the vast majority of Santorum voters would go immeadiately to Newt, this means that once again Florida may decide our candidate.

Will this be Newtopia? Will the rise of NewTwo be dangerous for us? Will the Newton discover a new gravity in politics? Is this Newtacular?

In any event I formally endorse Newt. I have severe issues with some of his stances, but like Princess Leia said "Help us Newtobi Wan Kenobi, your our only hope."

This is a State where polls showed an easy Mitt win just a week ago. He was walking to his coronation. Now he tripped on the curb and everyone noticed he has no clothes on!

lol. I agree newt is a better candidate as Mit still, who would proly be as bad as Obama. That being said, I don't feel like he would make a real good president the US so needs at this moment.

Anyways back to seriousness


Newt is the only Speaker of the House to cut and reduce the Government, there is hope that if made President with a mandate to do so again he could clean up a lot of crap.

And given his nature I can see him firing a lot of entrenched government flunkies in the departments at the least.

And lord knows the Liberal media will have a hard time messing with him. He continously hands them the still beating hearts and tells them they might need it!

Santorum is a George W Bush clone with stronger religious values.

Mitt, the Mittens the Kittens Romney is the Republican version of Obama.

And Ron Paul... seriously wtf drugs does he use?

With a candidate declared for the Libertarian Party already Ron Paul will actually have money issues if he switches and tries for a new run with someone already getting organized there. Plus he loses all his new voters which he may not want to do. As a true believer he would welcome the chance to swell Libertarian ranks and if he switches he loses all those people who might subscribe to his newsletter.

If Santorum drops 95% of his people will latch onto Newt.

Santorum needs to place second in the last primary of January to even keep enough interest. He won't get delegates, Florida is a winner take all State, but he coule try the next two States before fizzing.

Or if Santorum is wise... he drops asap, endorses Newt, and hopes he gets a cabinet spot or the Vice President ticket. If he does that then Newt is the annoited one and Mitt gets to chew sand.

Rassmussen reports 41% for Newt, and 32% for Mitt.

Given that two weeks ago it was 72% for Mitt.... crash and burn baby yikes

I am a Conservative, not a Constitutionalist or Libertarian.

As such I believe there are reasonable regulations that should be enacted.

I oppose the Dodd-Frank bill as destructive.

In its place I propose a proposal I placed on this board a few months ago.

Simply put... a stock that has been purchased cannot be sold in less than 24 hours after its purchase. This would prevent most of the dangerous dynamics going through the market right now.


That and there needs to be a death penalty for fraud and illegal spending (or w/e Madoff did) for any sum exceeding one billion dollars.

Those two actions would never be done by Mitt. NEVER.


And Abortion... is just another way to say there is no difference with Obama and Mitt. If he was prolife at least it would be one difference in nature.

I myself personally am prolife, I however know that ending abortion is not plausible. However I can, and will, support ending third trimester abortions (aka late term abortions).

When given a choice between Obama, and Obama light... aka Democrats party and Democrat light (like we tried to do in 2008 when we had our asses handed to us)... people will vote Obama. Aka better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.
