Topic: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

Got me a Uniden D1680, and i'm able to call out just fine.  But not a soul can call in.

Granted this works wonders for telemarketers not being able to bother me....but I have family that needs to contact me.

Also, for five days, was unable to get a hold of a live person through Uniden's tech services.  They have had an "Inordinate amount of customer calls...", which have blanketed their entire business.

Any news, or a fix?

And no, their troubleshoot doesn't work.

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

Inundated with calls could mean service provider problems. Was there any service outage reports on your service providers website?

Also, have you tried a different handset with the same SIM? (could work out if it's the handset or service provider)
What happens when someone tries to call you, what message does it say?

Without anymore info, any ideas would be blind shots at a fix...it's like saying "my car won't start, what is wrong", "change the battery, fill it up with petrol" (all the while the salesman didn't include an engine)

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

I can call out and contact anyone.

When someone attempt to call in, it rings once, then picks up.  You get complete static.  After 10-15 seconds it hangs up.

What possible more information could there be that you would need?

For a moment i thought it was the new Century Link call waiting crap.  And I called them to have it discontinued.  Problem still unresolved.  I plugged my old phone in....guess what, I can get calls incoming.

Still, if there was a specific option that I had to program for the phone, I haven't a clue.  I tried turning off the messaging system.  Still same problem.  Rings, picks up, static, hangs up on all incoming calls.

So obviously it isn't the providers fault.

Oh, and it doesn't have the option to block or unblock any particular caller.

Your new phone is broken! It's probably a $2 knock off from china.

I think you should be asking tech-support, rather than people on an unrelated gaming forum.

Good phone service.  A place that no man has found before.  The real final frontier.

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

I had an issue like that before. I could call out but could not receive any phone calls. I wouldn't even ring. I took it in to my cell phone company and they said I needed a new phone. I bought a new phone and still couldn't receive any calls.  I went back again and they realized they had put my phone number on vacation mode, which I had never asked for. I guess I didn't need another phone after all hmm

Right, so what are we waiting for?  Can we get this going?  Any other feedback?

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

Did they refund you the price of your phone, since it's purchase wasn't really needed?

Well, you didn't give any of this information to start with...you just said you don't get incoming calls...now when you said it rings once, does it ring on the callers end or the actual handset?

Do you use wireless internet? I know the handset operates on 1.9 GHz, so in theory it shouldn't interfere, but if you are running out of options, try and turn off any wireless routers and try calling in again. Also, do you have any other telephones/faxes plugged in at all around the house? Does your computer have an old dialup modem you use to fax people?

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

It's a wireless phone system.  I decided to buy another one, but different brand name.  Same problem, except no ringing whatsoever.  I can call out, but no one can call in.  So I bought an old wired touch tone phone.  Again same problem. I can call out, but nobody can call in.

And I have two phone jacks in my house.  I tested the other wall jack, and the problem persists.

And no, I do not have wireless internet.  Though I did unplug my internet box.  Nada.  Same problem exists, so I know it was not my internet.

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

Maybe the phone-line provider could help you since you`r paying the line rental bill ^^

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

Yeah, it sounds most probably a line issue then...call the phone company, they will send a tech out...sounds like exchange related (not even line related), but I would suspect a jumpering problem...

They will ask to do what you have already done, so you just need to tell them that you have tried 3 phones, the line is completely isolated, and tried both phone jacks, and the same problem occurs. They shouldn't need you to do anything else...

Re: New Phone, Unable to receive calls.

Yep, called them, they sent a guy out to fix it.

The problem wasn't on the line at all.

When the Qwest billing turned into Centurylink billing, they changed the options for users, including myself.  It was their own company that flubbed up at their transfer station when they were upgrading or downgrading everyone's payments plans.  They basically shut off incoming service.

Bunch of grrrrrfs.
