hmmmm would this gal run at the same time as rounds in the 3 gals or would it replace such rounds?
MW and Andro attract the same types of players. PW is a good place for n00bs to find their feet but it is also a great place for people like me who have played the game for years and now do not want to have to be active 24x7 just to get a decent rank or have a good round. For me, PW is not only the ideal place for n00bs to start but it's like a rest home for vets 
Get rid of it and there is no point in me playing - it's that simple.

Having defended the need for a PW type galaxy, I must agree that it would need to stay as an alternative.
The sheer number of quality active players who will stay in pw will detract from whatever other single galaxy would remain, but you must have at least 2 galaxies, and there must be a PW for the noobs to learn on their own terms.
That said, merging galaxies would work best if every fam in the galaxy had a base of 1 random/1 vip/1 draft in it. This would hopefully provide all the randoms with a solid core of players to work around, and give each family as even a chance at start as we can ever hope for.
There aren't enough active players in IC to give more than half the fams in any galaxy, merged or otherwise, a reasonable set of drafts. More than 1/1 would just stack too many of the quality players in too few of the fams, and then anyone joining the unlucky fams will have little choice but to delete and go straight to PW. Assuming of course that there is a PW
Naturally, the concept of a low draft galaxy offends everyone in andro who relies on a large talkative and active family to remain interested in the game.
Yet, if you compromise and increase drafts per fam, you may just end up with a poor version of andro and chase a lot of people to PW who prefer the lower draft numbers. Which would leave one very full gal and one very big, very empty one.
I would like to see a big 60 fam galaxy, where every fam has some active guys to build a decent start around, and you should be able to put 1 vip and a friend in every one of those 60 fams. you would not be able to put 2 vips in every fam, and that would cause what always happens. Randoms deleting from fams without, and 'potentially good' new players staying active in the better ones, and giving up in the weaker ones.
The gal would suck after one round. There would be a larger number of competitive decent fams, which is good. But there'd be a larger number of pointless empty ones, which changes nothing.
It still might suck regardless of how it is set up.
I'd like to see 100 fams, but there aren't that many players in all of IC.
So:
If it was to run alongside the ICC rounds, would this detract from the galaxy?
Would andro players give up the extra drafts they currently enjoy?
Would half the MW players move to PW if the round had more drafts, making the merge a waste of time?
Questions questions. Lots of people seem willing to try something new and different, but unless everyone is willing to try "whatever it takes to make the galaxy work" then there is just gonna be a lot of bitching about how to set it up, that it was set up wrong, that it sucks and we're gonna quit etc etc.
A agree with a lot of your points Warsie, but everybody is very focussed on the number of families now. Of course 100 fams is a damn lot, and yes, I agree we should keep the draft amounts 1 vip and 1 friend. But how about decreasing the family size from 12 to something like 8?
8 player families with 2 draftspots. I think that would make such a merged galaxy a whole lot more fun, since you have more full fams and a bigger part of the family can be drafted.
kk Warsie you're right about a lot. I think if I were to set this up, it would have to be Andro/MW only. PW still is a good galaxy imo.
I should also point out to ppl that there will most likely not be any tri alliances. As glue mentioned, the forum format atm doesn't really allow readable ally forums (Something we're still trying to work on and no the old forums won't be back...ever =/) so its best to just not even go that route.
Keep in mind ppl, that none of these ideas are ever really permanent. The way I see it, if someone has a relatively good idea, it's worth discussing and trying out for at least a round. If it doesn't work out, then we've only lost just that. One round.
A 60 fam, 12 player 1/1 vip/draft format works for me.
A 60 fam, 12 player, 2/2 vip/draft format works better if activity is high. Either way, all we want to know atm is who is interested.

but 1/1 drafts its too little, there are enuff ok players who want to bring their friends.
so a total of 4 drafts its OK IMO

the fewer players in the fam the less interesting it is. 12 player fams is good. 1 draft/1 vip is also perfect becos it allows there to be a large number of competitive fams.
Pw needs to be merged too, becos otherwise we wont have a big enough player base. i would suggest then that wot is needed for n00bs to still get interested in ic is for virgo to be revamped. give it real competition and get rid of the stupid 10 planet limit, passing ppl through only when the mw/andro/pw round ends or has just started. make the galaxy huge so that there's no chance of n00bs running out of space, have a decent number of fams, but dont make the space in each fam too big and put two tutors per fam again. more fams = more competition. keep the rule about tutors not being able to attack the n00bs definitely, but even just ecoing is quite fun if you get the chance to do it properly, ie: working with someone else for greater efficiency. and if you have 2 tutors per fam, you will inevitably end up with 1 banker and 1 resourcer/attacker, which means we can get competition going between the tutors as we can have them leading their n00bs in wars against enemy fams, teaching them the basics of fighting, which doesnt at all happen at the moment in virgo. the tutors would fight the enemy tutors and vice versa, while at the same time the n00bs fight the n00bs, each side getting advice from their tutors. this would truly test the tutors ability to teach rather than his ability to make large posts in the forum at SOR and then go inactive Finally I would also add a higher nw limit to attacks if possible, like 50% instead of 35%, becos n00bs arent all going to be joining at the start of a new round, and we dont want big n00bs stopping smaller newer n00bs from getting a gd start.
warsie i heard from nolio that they intend to implement this after the ICC.
and definitely bring back tri alliances. they made the game alot more fun. if stefan has time to fix the forums at sum point over the summer, that would be great, but i think tri alliances would still be better than 1 ally or none.

I have a question a serious one
When do you guys want this to happen?
because, Andromeda ends in 20 days, while MW started for like 10-15 days.
Somewhere, something needs to be closed for a long time
I mean imo id rather close MW in 2 weeks, than let Andromeda players wait 2 more months for MW to finish?
