can we switch allies once the round has started?  Or are we stuck with the ones we pick?

After the alliance sham a few rounds back where everyone allied everyone and PNAPd old allies in MW, allies are now permanent for the round.

As for PW, afaik, there was talk of having it set at permanent tho Im not to sure of the final decision on it.

yea that round of MW was friggen crazy, we ended up back with the original allies after 4 maybe 5 allie swaps, they were done to simply have positional advantage on new enemies and then it was taken a little too far with essentially a 3 family alliance chain that ended with a bunch of bans to prove a point or something.

I think that alliances shouldn't be set in stone. cuz it seems alot of leaders dont do alliance naps anymore. and the round always ends with 1 alliance being awesome and ever other reasonable fam having a dead ally.

maybe make it so that if all four leaders of 2 alliance sign a nap to switch allies and send it to a mod, they can do something about it?

yea, in PW our allies failed early on with no chance of recovery.  Then we got 2v1 by other alliances for the rest of the round.

Even the same situation in MW, our allies got raided early on.  The rest of the fam went inactive after that, since there wasn't much point playing as the round was pretty much over.

Usually in the old days, everyone would planet grab as fast as they could, and whoever had the most planets, usually Allied to each other.  Then they carved up the galaxy.

or just better protect your allies. clearly the people killing your allies worked better together than you did. i know all situations can't be covered but, for an alliance to win you have to act as one unit.

its not always protecting the allies that can be a problem. internal issues can tear a family apart much faster then most wars
