Dunno if technically it's possible...

-A player or group of player ask mods to create a galaxy at the size they want, the number of fams or players they want, for the duration they want and with starting resources they want, with restriction they want(hardcore, market delay ops delay, events etc....)

-then the player or group of player invites other players the same way as u invite for a draft.

-Would be reserved for the VIPs: Normal to pay if u need a bigger server for exemple.
-There would be less inactives since they would probably not be invited anymore and for same reason, less nap breakers, less IA, less vulture, less gang bangs, less insults in forums. And multy would be nearly impossible since  allplayers would be known.

-Im sure 80% ppl that left the game didnt leave because they didnt like the game anymore but because they didnt want to play with some ppl anymore and they were forced to rounds after rounds, or because they were finding the rounds way to long.

- if u want to play a 1v1 for 2 weeks  u can
- If u see a player or group of player that u hate u dont even lose ur time joining, u go in another galaxy
- If u see a group of good players u always wanted to play with or against, or friends, with a duration that fits to u, u ask them to join and have fun.

-Ofc 1 or 2 normal galaxies would be kept for everybody

If it's technically possible I think it should be tried, even if technically it's only possible to do a limited number of galaxies at start. Im sure some players would come back, less leave and developers would make bit more money so that they can invest in bigger servers to be abble to do some more galaxies.

Did they ever work? I remember joining Tri round 3 and I don't think they worked at that point

Would be fun to see this in place. I would enjoy getting 4 fams together, fighting it out in a 4 week round for example. Like ICPG/Draco, but where the players sort everything out and make it happen!

Also would encourage alot of players to come, as it would be good fun and relaxed!

F-N A,... that is an idea that steffan can't refuse... if he gets $20 a head, and 100 players, thast a good month.
and with the base programs already able all he has to do is copy send and give the http to confirmed purchasers.
i need to get in to this racket, buy programs, get a tech and merge them then just post the game for $5 and make it addicting as cigarettes... i'll be rich LOL.

They worked but were discontinued due to the server not being able to handle it. It wouldn't work now though because IC's population has declined drastically

I bet i can bring back 10 players that left for a private game, and I havent played a lot of rounds. And since there are less players, servers should be ok

They failed when there were thousands of players, they will fail even more with the 200 we currently have.

If nothing is done and we continue to act and think that nothing is worth because we are too few players, it will continue to decrease.

The easiest way to have more players is to have the ones already knowing it, back (because new players find this game old(only scripts, no graphics, 1 language---and to change that it's hard work)
I can't contact old players in my msn list telling them "come back they gave an amazing new op to this race", but i would try if i could promise them a custom galaxy with old friends. Then maybe they would see and like some developpements (mass building is the best since for most players that left IC takes too much time---mass sending fleet and mass sending aid should be next step in this way) and start to play again regular galaxies.

it should be possible,  when i was a mod we had a practise gal, and you can just place people into the fams.
