Topic: Want to kill coring?

Ever think, I want to war a fam, but it's a month into the round and they have a solid core with 5 DSs? Get rid of cores.

How? Radical rule change with active enforcement.

I recently played, and quit, a game called Galactic Empires. They had a restriction on grouping your planets together en masse.

We could do that too. We'd need a active mod team, a report system, and plausible rules.

Some ideas:

A family can only own 70% of a system.
or
A player cannot explore within 1 tick of other planets he may own.  (Help this by coding explos to not explo within one tick of a planet)

These rules can be enforced through mod scanning/a report system.

My two cents about a real change.

Is that a NAP I saw you make? Time to break it!

Re: Want to kill coring?

Or just make galaxy maps such that there are no empty spaces, every single coordinate is a system. So the worst that can happen are 1-2 tickers even if people core.

Re: Want to kill coring?

Does this mean 120*120*20 planets on average?  An average of 288000 planets would mean... PERPETUAL EPHASE!

Make Eyes Great Again!

The Great Eye is watching you... when there's nothing good on TV...

Re: Want to kill coring?

wouldnt that mean we couldnt have DSs? and we cant even control our own hs?

Re: Want to kill coring?

id basically propose another idea.

Keep fleet motion ...realistic. I mean, if i send 50% of my fleet 30 ticks away, to create an outpost, then...make an attack and what happens?
the fleet is back instantly....or if i capture the planet, i can recall instantly.

What if we make it so that when fleet moves, it actually occupies an area on the map...eg if your fleet is in system x,y then it can attack any planet in that system either until capture or until fleet is destroyed.
There could be a limit of how many times a fleet can attack in a row..maybe have moral based on fleets not this global moral.

e.g if your moral is 60% and you send out 2 fleets, then those 2 fleets have separated 60% moral. and at their destination they can make lets say 5-6 attacks...then wait.

Global moral would determine how much moral each fleet will get at departure.

and ...if someone attacks you while your fleet is at war in another sector...well good luck waiting its arrival to defend.

sounds like a big change but.....could be cool

Re: Want to kill coring?

zarf its pretty clear if it was changed that way the map would be made smaller. so that comment is redundant.

Re: Want to kill coring?

this also means that smaller families would be forced to expo towards larger family outposts, wars woould tak much longer and do much less damage. no turtling in ds's, nap's would be necessary at BOR to ensure safety as cores will quickly overlap.

actually heres a big loophole in this. we cant attack each other. if players shared a system, they couldnt attack that planet? if so then it would be easy to expo into a core with a small player still, or if it is possible then players will simply expo and have thier family members take the expoes until the systems are full, making it favor full corrdinated families.

are there ways to adress these issues?
