Topic: Stop pirate day.

Besides that i dont think its funny, and it makes reading a forum very annoying, so i dont do it.  I feel personally offended by pirate day. The sector i am working in (merchant navy) is having to deal with real pirates, and i already sailed several times trough pirate invested areas, wich is completly no fun, since all the security measures (up to armed personell on board).


I had several friends being attacked by pirates, ad' when they are shooting at you with RPG's and ak47's, you dont really see te fun in pirates.

I survived the Test? of 12-4-03, anyone remember that?

hmmmm, ye must be thinkng o' real modern pirates, we'll keel-haul ye!

This day is t' celebrate th' Romanticized version o' Historical pirates. 

yup I reckon they were a bit horrible back in th' day, All Hands Hoay! 
but they have been 'like I said' romantisized o'er th' years, an' this means that th' pirates we be celebratin', be all in fact Fictional an' fun.


I can understan' that ye dont like pirates due t' th' fact that yer a marine, but I love them, not obv th' ones attackin' yer maties with Gattlin' guns out o' Row boats or whatever, but me Nickname is Pirate Kyle, And I'm not a murderous lubber, I just like sittin' on boats Drinkin' Rum ^_^

So I disagree t' stoppin' pirate day, But I DO have sympathy fer ye an' yer maties, with a chest full of booty.

I agree with havin' troubles readin' forums, but seriously lighten up...  I had an auld wench mow me dog down once, doesnt mean every time i see an auld wench i wanna lay me steel caps into them tongue

If you don't like the pirate day talk, then edit your post as appropriate. If you type what you wanted to say and then copy it before you post, then on edit you can "de-pirate" it.

I think Pirateday is inappropriate as well.  Oho, Ya swabbie! I went t' Dublin recently, an' thar I were bein' absolutely startled by participants o' th' Vikin' Splash Tour, yo ho, ho Although Vikin's aren't pirates per se an' th' Vikin' Splash Tour is a tourist attraction rather than th' fearful bandits o' yore, they gave me a fraction o' a second o' fright.  Notwithstandin' I realised th' joke afterwards an' thought it were bein' a brilliant touristidea, I can not agree t' be reminded o' that fraction o' a moment fer a single day in an entire year.  Switchin' me computer off or at least not readin' th' forums is just intolerable t' me..

The OP needs t' figure out th' difference betwixt Somali pirates (bad thin') an' charicature, eye patch wearin', parrot on th' shoulder pirates (funny thin'), Ya horn swogglin' scurvy cur!  It's just a bit o' fun an' has hugely brightened me day.  Plus, som e o' th' silly shit that th' 16 year auld keyboard warriors send ye in PM is way funnier in Pirate talk :-)
