Topic: IC Mafia Galaxy
A very rough idea that I have but I thought it would be cool to post and have other people flesh it out.
No 35% attack restrictions, whether or not to have DS is open to balance suggestions.

Put all the players into the same family.
(Benefit is they share the same private forum, drawback is this may limit strategy as the last planet to take would be the home planet and people are all in the same homesystem already when they are in the same family)

Put all players into 1 player fams distributed across the galaxy.
(Benefit is this may give players incentive to want to explore close to each other including homesystems so if they know who is mafia, they can quickly start attacking them and removing them. This forces the different players to explore into other people's home system and not have this option be given already due to the home planets being shared by being in the same family. Drawback is that they will have to use some mirc chat or forums elsewhere and that needs to be setup, but probably not a big problem)

What happens:
Well as game starts, to keep it simple, let's say there is 1 mafia and 1 police and rest are townies. The definition of a DAY or NIGHT phase is set as a X number of ticks, depending on what is an appropriate length.
Mafia (while not revealed) can kill 1 person every night, what this means is, that when NIGHT is over, the person he picked to kill will have his empire deleted/killed off.
Police can investigate 1 person every night and will learn whether the person is a townie or Mafia.
During DAY phase, everyone votes who to be lynched off, the person to be lynched off will have their empire deleted/killed off, however if it is the Mafia who is voted to be lynched off, he will not be lynched off. Instead he will become revealed and can no longer use his Mafia night time kill abilities. What happens now is that he has to survive a set number of ticks before the townies completely kill off his empire through IC means.

END GAME POSSIBILITIES:
1) Mafia wins by killing all the people (either through their Mafia abilities, or through IC attacking and destroying their homeplanet).
2) Mafia survives (or Townies survive) a set amount of ticks after Mafia has been exposed (This clause is set to prevent either a tie or a very long drawn out IC battle).
3) Town wins by exposing the Mafia and then killing them off through IC means.

Strategies:
If people are in 1 person fams, they will have to gain trust of each other and be willing to let people explore near each other, however if suddenly the person they let them share with is revealed as the Mafia, they could be in danger as well.
If you see someone exploring into places where no one else is at so they can quickly laser trap planets up etc, then it could draw suspicion.
It may be to the mafia's incentive to kill off people that are growing very strong economically, but then they may leave them there in order for people to suspect that the top eco guy is mafia when he is not etc etc. Any other psychological Mafia related strategies could play into here.

Not sure what more to add, strategies and stuff could change depending on what people think the rules/features of this galaxy should be of course.
