Topic: Home Planets

Why do we all have a 250 sized 5% iron bonus planet? Bankers dont need an iron planet. Some attackers dont even need an iron planet. Whats with the 5% bonus anyways? Its so low a number that the extra iron you get is academic even if you fill it up with Mining Facilitys.

My idea is multi faceted....

1. We could be given a pull down of options for a home planet type at the 'join a galaxy' screen.

2. We could incorporate all the different planet types and sizes into these choices. Here are some rough ideas for the choices;

- 300 size planet with no resource bonus

- 250 size planet with a +10% bonus to Iron, Endurium, Octarine or Food

- 150 size Morale planet with no resource bonus

- 200 size Science bonus (exact number?) planet with no resource bonus

I figure changing the size balances out the bonuses. Obviously a morale planet is great, but at the cost of having a smaller planet. I forgot how Science planets work exactly, so i left that a ? for now.

This is gonna have a larger effect on early round play more than late game. The morale planet option is an exception to that. Thats gonna be handy all round long.

Opinions, ideas and feedback are welcome. I think this change would make early round strategy alot more interesting. Like i said earlier its a rough idea. The exact sizes and %'s should be discussed.

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee!!

Re: Home Planets

I think the general idea is to have it an even platform to start with, Iron is your families most needed and most built resource at SoR so thats probably why its a 5% iron bonus.

I know your idea is to have the options be equal but who to say which is fair and which would be of more benefit.  In my opinion the morale planet and science bonus planets would be over powered in your numbers there.

Re: Home Planets

How do science planets work exactly anyways? Does it modify research points of RCs built on said planet? Does the number represent RCs already 'built' into the planet? If it just enhances research points of existing RCs, i guess it could be overpowered. If its a set number of RCs i dont see that as overpowered. Lets pretend its 20 RCs. Is that really a huge number of points generated the first day or 2?

I can see the morale planets being overpowered. A morale home planet means you get 6% morale back per tick guaranteed. Maybe it should be dropped down to a 100 sized planet? Just how crippling is a 100 size planet at the start anyways?

The 300 sized planet is obviously for a banker or a resourcer. You can build more right away and the population will be larger and grow faster.

Choosing what kind of resource bonus can be nice. Yea resourcers build mostly iron right away. Maybe they want to make more endurium the first day. It seems to me that Endurium is more important than iron at the start. Octarine and food are probably the weakest of the 4 choices. Those could even be eliminated as options. I dont see alot of people choosing them.

Maybe a banker wants the morale planet to help him take planets from his attackers later in the round? Having a tiny planet at the start for a banker would suck. It could benefit a resourcer that does retakes alot too.

Bankers and resourcers could choose the science planet and experiment with a good science start at the expense of overall planet size. Obviously the explorer/builder would want this planet.

Re: Home Planets

It is a % increase on all RC's on the planet now.

And Yes bigger size planets means you can  build more but even atm you have people not fb at the start so does it really make a difference to have that space?

People aren't going to choose to build enough refinement stations for a 5% bonus to actually do anything.  If you build 100 refinement stations you are only getting 5 extra endurium then.  With 100 as a family on build you will have more than enough than can be spent till day 3 or 4 where your families will typically see like 600-800 mines or so on build.  Thats like 60-80 extra iron you are getting.  So common sense would say Iron is the only bonus that will make sense.

And about bankers taking moral planets.  With the new inactive tag changes, Bankers will NEVER run out of morale taking off an attacker.  You can take like 150 to 200 planets or so with the new tag and no have any issues.

Re: Home Planets

no they reverted that back to actually dent the morale just not as much as originally and not as less as recently lol its right now i think.

and AA i think each science number for example 32 Science on a planet is equivalent to 32 RC's

"Heh heh heh heh heh heh!"
