Topic: 9-11 Rememberance Thread
Today is the day that the United States was struck with terrorism on it's own land.
For a while we awoke to what other parts of the world knew to be true.
For a while the rest of the world suffered under terrorism as well.
Spain
England
India
Australia
and more
I remember, and will remember. Never forget, and never forgive terrorism.
I thank however President Bush in his drive to end Terrorism. Outside India and Israel, terrorism is reduced greatly. Acts are tried, but we are awake and alert to them. I may have disagreed with many of his policies, but his ability to reduce terrorism in our lands should not go unnoticed.
I am saddened by the Mayor of New York banning religion and mention of the terrorists. Never forget, but especially never try to reduce the truth!
I read a story recently about two individuals ordered into action on 9-11. Their emotions and response that day bear reflecting upon. They heard of the attack on the first tower 'an accident has occurred' and they saw the second attack. Given orders to get into the air as soon as possible after the Pentagon was struck, they took off without ammo, without missiles. The leader in his F-16 said to his wing-mate "I will take the cockpit". He meant to ram if called to do so. Having seen such horrors he was willing to pay the price to save more. His partner said back "I will get the tail".
They never needed to do their duty. US-93 was downed by its own passengers. Later they escorted (presumably with no ammunition still) Air Force One to Washington D.C.
Let us not forget the sacrifices by the Militaries of many Nations as they fight to prevent new terrorist strikes in our home lands. Let there never be another Train Bombing, never again a Hotel seized and everyone possible killed, let there be no embassy bombings, or strikes on skyscrapers. Let this plague upon humanity end. Let us resolve to send a message, "Never attack a civilian".
Let us REMEMBER, and let us PRAY.
