heard about the crashing tents and someone said 6 people died
... lightning & rain ruined that day on the UIT for a big part as well.. nonetheless what happened in pukkelpop was a lot worse of course.
wasn't a good day for dutch festivals
Or belgian
uhh yeah both obviously >.<
As far as I have heard official death toll is 5, and 40 or more wounded (8 serious).
Last night it was 3 death but during night 2 more died cause of the injuries they had.
It's not far from where I live, a second black year for the festival. :-(
2nd? What happened last year?
Just heard from Arnor who went and is back home safely.
The stories i read are touching. If i wouldn't have resits yet again i'd probably been there too. Glad i wasn't. But knowing so much people being there at the time worried me alot. No one was able to be reached for hours. 6 deaths, 1 death, 2 deaths, 3 deaths, 4 deaths, 5 deaths. i saw the sloging and got pretty shocked. a young couple both were within the actual 5 victims. Names haven't been spread out fo respect for the victims and family...
I happened to be in the Chateau when it collapsed. I'm fine, apart from a sprained wrist. I feel I must stress that it could all have been much worse and I'd like to thank everyone for keeping calm and taking care of eachother.
And if you have friends missing, I'd like you to know that the first aid teams worked really efficient and fast. They deserve a statue imo.
arsy, last year a light technician fell out of his rooftop nest and died. And one of the band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool committed suicide on the backstage parking.
damn that sucks, glad you got out OK
I feel absolutely gutted I couldn't help anyone who required help, serious help..
If you sprained your wrist then you were a casualty too.
I read account of a structural collapse in the USA a few decades ago and how the experts want you to act
"Dr. Waeckerle grabbed a bullhorn from the fire department and announced
It is very normal to feel like that after such an incident.. it usually inspires others onto such things as studying to be a Paramedic etc.. I bet the organizers feel alot worse than you atm..
Wouter, who else was there? Was Arnout there? Glad to hear that you are OK.
What i heard so far is 7 death, 10 heavy injuries with still 2 fighting for their lives and 140 light injuries.
Arsbury last year 1 artist died due to natural causes & a second one commited suicide.
No one of the IC crowd we know, Jim. I went with a friend I met in a pub, not on the internet ![]()
And GAb afaik, 5 people lost their lives and 3 are still fighting for theirs and there's 1 man who's probably permanently paralyzed from the neck down.
I was there too, outside Boiler Room under the white curtain. At first the heavy raind and wind made the crowd go out of the roof and everybody had a good laugh, untill the stage collapsed 10m at the right of me and 2 young people died cuz of the steal beam fell right on them...
If the weather lasted for like half hour longer, all tents (big boiler room tent, dance hall, marquee, club) would have came down.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jDObCZnmPY --> dance hall right next to boiler room, it's a miracle it stayed in one piece.
I only just read about the tragedies at the music festival. As much as i feel sad for those who didnt survived and are still permanently injured at what is suppose to be a joyous occassion, im happy that those we know who play this game, new and old friends are with us and are ok.
@ Wouter
Yeah, I didn't expect nor think you had gone to Pukkelpop with anyone from IC. =P But I just wondered if you knew any of the IC gang was there, particularly Arnout, and if he was OK if he was. ![]()
he wasn't there afaik, but if he was, he's alright considering i got a txt msg from him monday
Cool. Thanks Primo. ![]()
Glad to hear everyone is fine.
Of course jim; but I was rather sure I was the only one of the "old, regular IC-crowd".
