I've been working on this story on and off for a while now. My only sounding board, Arandur/Daemon is too lazy and 'busy' with exams to go over the story for me, so I decided to post it here. Not sure how many of you are still active in the RP forums but for those of you who are please be kind with your reviews tongue

The large room was packed to the brink, it hummed with energy and soft spoken conversations; there were twelve officers seated around the tabled in the middle of the room. Each officer had two or three aids standing behind them at the ready, except for one. Captain Harrinson was whispering over his shoulder to Commander Pressley, who was leaning down.  Out of the corner of his eye Jack noticed Captain Ironside quietly standing around in a corner, mentally filing it away for later he went back to his conversation with Commander Pressley.

*Chapter 8*

Jack and Stewart approached the door to the bar and stepped aside as two young women in uniform came out and walked by them. Stewart cocked an eyebrow at Jack, who grinned back at him. The men entered the bar; it was filled with uniformed personnel. Most of the people wore either Navy or Marine uniforms, but scattered amongst the crowd in groups were Soldiers and Officers wearing Army and Air Force uniforms.  They made their way over to the counter and ordered some drinks. After they got their drinks, they sat down at the only empty corner booth.   Jack drank both shots of whiskey and then chugged down his first beer and wiped his mouth off with the back of hand. Stewart laughed before taking a big gulp of his own beer. Jack started drinking his other beer more slowly.

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...
