well, i did say it will hurt me alot, but having no food i still managed to FB 4 planets but cant fill the last (iron planet) till i get food

The GE didn't affect me cause I didn't mass explo from teh start 
Hence why people run into food problems. I'm only in top 45 but I think infra wise I'm doing pretty damn good. btw gondor im up to 200 cfs a tick

it slowed me down building 10 farms at bor, but now i think maybe it worked out fine for me..

I did 40 farms on day 2. Seems to be working out alright.

It's really not that hard to plan enough not to starve... Divide your max pop by 1000 and it gives you how many HFs you'll need (plus whatever fleet you may have) then build accordingly. I haven't made more then 2k surplus food so far but i've got 126k food stored and just built the final 14 HFs to cover my original 7 planets base pop.
