Topic: Online Map Gen

Hi everyone

Im writing a new mapgen that works online and is shared between fam members, so if one player adds his planet list/exploration list etc, to the map, others will see it too. And no download/installation needed. Those are the basic points of this map gen.


Im still developing it....and it certainly contains bugs and is incomplete, so if you see some, let me know.

Atm, only milkiway galaxy is avail.

To log in
Fam  = demo
Pass = demo
Top row is for adding new data and planet lists
bottom row is to view and edit existing lists.
I have added few sample planet lists. plz dont delete those.

To add a list you have 6 options atm
1) choose "map selection" from dropdown menu, then click on the systems you want to mark for the family, Add a name for the list into the name box, Choose the list type(enemy=red, neutral=white,friendly=green, exploration=yelllow) and press save.
after that, this new list should appear on the bottom row, in all planet lists dropdown box.

2) choose "planets page" from dropdown list and copy paste your entire planets page into the following text box. rest of the steps are same as nr 1
3) choose "fleets destinations", and copy paste your expo ships that are on move, from fleet page, to place your moving fleet targets to the map  and coordinate an attack
4) choose x,y:nr and copy paste planet lists gotten with spells, or formated with map gen.(format looks like this
12,77:32
12,75:33
.....
5) "lost planets" - copy paste your fam news into the data field and it will place the lost systems onto the map.
6) "rankings page" copy paste rankings page into the data field and it will create a list of the home systems.

To view planet lists, choose the  list from bottom row

nope...its no different to www.silenz.org, or mapgen that you can install.
Ic requires using only browser to play ....and that whatever tool it is, must be available to everyone.

this mapgen meets both these requirements. It uses nothing other than the browser, and is available for everyone.




its still WIP, so if anybody has some good ideas, let me know and maybe ill include them.

this is awesome Needle.  I really feel you should coordinate/collaborate with Petrolstone so that this can be added to the main site, rather than as a seperately hosted one.

id anybody has a login-pass for that other mapget, let me know. there may be some nice ideas there.


And i like the idea of making this mapgen available on main ic site.


If there are players from other galaxies that would like to make a map for their fam, send me the source for the galaxy....html for the four sectors as txt file.

ye a link on the fam page would be good for this i think it needs a bit of makup to make it look nicer though.

also why not intergrate a yama tool on the fam page aswell.

I dont have access to PW galaxy data because im playing in MW myself atm,  so if you want PW, save all 4 sector html sources into text file and email to me.

Also, for others who have tried to use the mapgen this recently and failed, It was because of server error. The site was down for a week, so the mapgen couldnt connect.

Update.


Added Pinwheel galaxy. However it seems that Sector 3 data was missing from the html files sent.
Could you please re-email that one.

Now you can choose between PW and MW
also the login url must now have galaxy parameter

replace xxx with your fam name/pass, if you havent registered your fam map, the url will register it for you. So the following url both logs in or registers a fam map.

ImperialMapGen.swf?family=xxx&password=xxx&galaxy=Milkyway

I noticed a small error that caused the planet lists copied from forums not to be saved.
Copying Ic Mapgen generated planet lists or opped planet lists from forums into online map gen should work now.

you can select it from login drop down, or by adding it to the mapgen url( &galaxy=sd)

is there any way to make the map so all the systems don't look like HS's? with it being SD SS and so many hs's would be awesome to be able to distinguish this.

What do you mean exactly?

If you mean changing the planet list icons/colors then you can do that.
You can change the color for systems and choose an icon(friendly/expo/enemy/neutral)
