What I ask myself is why would the non-galaxy players want to vote
for a family set-up, also this requires them to know the players playing if
you don't want them to vote just random, won't most people just not care?

and if you have too many non players make family combination, eventually the galaxy players will be able to choose any combination, and I think most of them will just look for a combination they like, I would then at least drop the galaxy players choosing families themselves.

Or perhaps you mean like more detailed setups, including whom is attacker, banker, opper, and leader. that might be interesting as people
could create interesting family set-ups to fight eachother. but that 'll require more fill -in work. and getting the people to vote might be a hard thing. aswell the wait for the galaxy to start. The having to sign up in a forum I personally find annoying aswell, would be more fun if it's like at the 'join galaxy'.
