Topic: Mods -- finally got to bash them a little

In the past, I've always tried to support the mods...

try and say they actually do what they are supposed to do "maintain and improve IC"

cant say I can do that anymore...


I countered the argument of a mod today...every single point...which wasnt hard as he kept saying the only thing over and over after awhile when I busted up his arguements.




If you actively get a person to sign up for a OLD, text based game that is a RL friend of yours...and you are willing to mentor that person...that person would like to play in the same family...


shouldnt the mods be all for getting in a new player?


apparently not.  Instead, they say that "you have one person from last round listed as a mentee. You have to wait until ALL mentors (MW and ANDRO even if you want to just go to MW when the round just starts) have a new person."


even though many of the other mentors are not actively trying to get in new players....or actively asking mods if/when mentee's will be available.


what do you think?

in the choice between getting new active players into IC and letting IC stop being a game of friends....mods choose to not gain new players and help it decline.

It would sound a lot more impressive if we actually had snippets of the conversation.

The question is not at all related to the premise. Yes, the mods should support getting new players. No, the mods should not support illegal drafting. Your premise is the latter, your question is the former.

Well, makes sense to me. If they have people who they can place the person with, they should. Your argument is that they don't, but apparently they do, so it's a non-issue.

Why even ask mods? Since when was it within their jurisdiction to determine whether or not one is allowed to recruit a RL friend into playing the game? Hasn't that always been a source of new players? (btw TMK, you really gotta work on making more coherent posts tongue)

I've been working 80+ hrs a week for 2 weeks now

I havent really slept in 3 weeks....

I didn't really understand your post TMK, but I understand you want a RL friend to be part of your family. If you're a VIP, you can easily draft him... There's nothing wrong with that. But you can't ask a mod to place him in your family, that's rather obvious isn't it?

Bringing a friend into IC is fine. Trying to bring a friend into your fam because you didn't get any randoms this round is not. Case closed

Well, as long as the friend is drafted in legally through VIP codes and such, there's no problem even then, is there - or have things changed? Of course, I'm not entirely clear as to how TMK was planning on recruiting this friend into his family... yikes

i agree with the mods on this. getting a rl friend to join is great and if you want to play with him specifically you should have to draft him in, whether it be you or another person in your family. The fact is that whether he is a total n00b or not, your rl friend can be influenced and told wot to do by you alot more than any random or normal mentee, and so it gives you a big advantage.

i'm not sure why he has to be in the same fam as you for you to be able to teach him anyway.

Um, if you think about it sneakily (like IC people tend to be tongue) then:
You want to draft 5 people: Make them get new acounts and go through virgo and then they get put in your fam big_smile
(or something like that tongue) not the best solution, even though I can understand the reason for it.

or just allow anyone to draft? that way, friends can stay together in the game, but theres some chance that new players may actually want to stay, after the boredom of virgo

No it wasn't, It was inside spam. It didn't contribute to the thread in any way. Besides he was warned, but still wanted to try and test me, I got a mod to strap a 2 day ban on.
If you want precedents: East got it too a while ago for posting a silly rhyme in multiple topics too.
