Re: future of the UK

what if a scotsman convinced them to split and then conquer England, wales and NI?

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: future of the UK

Oh God I hope this happens so we can watch Scotland slowly deteriorate and laugh at them as the come crawling back.

And then we say "NO!" and re-erect Hadrian's Wall.

Re: future of the UK

that would be a disaster. anyone with a sound mind can see the pound is a very strong form of currency

Re: future of the UK

it would depend on how integrated the Scottish economy is with the rest of the UK... is it possible it has more trade with the eurozone

anyway from a historical perspective Scotland has always been closer to the rest of the EU than to England, possibly just out of spite tho smile

Re: future of the UK

Scotland's primary exports are Irn Bru [sic] and heart disease.  It has little in the way of other exporting products.

Scotland also does well out of Westminster.  The new warships and carriers the UK have ordered are being built there and Westminster funds a lot of the social policies the Scots take for granted.

Whether they leave or go isn't up to me, nor do I particularly care.  But if they do leave the Union, Scotland will end up paying for it in money and job losses.

To those who understand I extend my hand; To the doubtful I demand to take me as I am.
