Re: Tsunami In Japan

well the waves that hit the western seaboard caused 9 figure damages....i live in california and santa cruz along with hawaii was hit with the worst of the waves that hit the U.S. multiple counties here in california declared a state of emergancy for there county but it hit from southern california badly all the way up the seaboard and oaregon, washington, and canadas seaboards were ruffed up a bit....the nuclear reactors seem to be holding somewhat steady diverting a meltdown but there bit concern right now is the levels of radiation leaking from the damaged reactors in the seawater and area around the plant----they say portions of the plumbing that pipes out the irradiated water from the reactors seem to be missing and thats what is causing the leakage.....if you all think about it the quakes started around haiti south americas areas first and have traveled around the world---haiti, then christ church, myanmar/india, japan......california is next....we are estimated at a 98% chance of an 8.0 or greater quake within the next 30 years in california on the san andreas faultline(of which runs thru san fransisco) and we are absolutely nowhere near as prepared structurally, mentally or any other way for the matter as prepared as japan hought they were for such an earthquake of that magnitude.....we are trying to prepare with retrofits to raoads, bridges and tall structures but are still deacdes away from coming even close to being prepared in the case of another "big one" hitting us

Re: Tsunami In Japan

uh! dont you have nuclear reactors in the seaside by any mean? yikes

Re: Tsunami In Japan

the u.s has alot of plants by seaside areas..... but the latest report came out and said its not californias nuclear plants that are the most vulnerable its actually new yorks as californias are much newer and much less susceptable to earthquake and such as very sophisticated equipment and extremely trict safegaurds are enabled at our plants plus our plants were specifically designed with extra thick walls and retrofitted to withstand large earthquakes and disasters because when they were built we were smart enough to make sure our plants were able to withstand such disasters....

Have a friend that lives in Japan by the name of Ben Jordan.  He's an English Teacher (teaches english).  Have NOT heard from him since the event....anyone with any information would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Tsunami In Japan

where at Key? I've got friends over there and I'll see how to go about tracking that down.

san onofrio nuke plant is more likely to be looted by the illegals who run across the grounds, than get hit by tsunami

and as for devil's mtn, that's on a 80 ft cliff.  somebody said if a tsunami can flood that one, we got worse problems than pollution

Re: Tsunami In Japan

Found him, he was able to contact one of our mutual friends couple weeks ago.  He lived near that nuke plant that was all screwed up.  He is living with his wife and her relatives on the other side of the island now.  He's good.

He was pretty much not able to make contact due to the computer he used was at the school he worked, and the school is in the quarantine zone now.
