the problem with politic forums is that you spend time in reading things, then spend more time in understand what you've read, then spend more time in thinkin if you're interested or not, in case you're interested then you have to think about your opinion, and then you spend more time in writing it, then you post and re-read your own post, then you spend more time in editing, then you wait someone answers or gives another opinion, most of the times people dont follow a thread just go their own way, another times you get flamed, so you have to spend more and more time....
At the end of this process you are standing the same you were before, you havent learned anything at all and wasted a precious time.
if Belgium doesn't have a govt maybe the EU nations should invade it and set up a protectorate like we did in Iraq

This forum still has intelligent people who frequent it on occasion, but with such characters we have left today debates have become predictable and unproductive.
1. Yell - One of the best debaters the forum ever had. But he has, for whatever reason, discontinued typing posts of ideal content in favor of one liner analogies that make little sense.
2. Zarf - He's too busy teaching children.
3. WFS - Only pops in once and in a while.
4. Acolyte - A free market fundamentalist who is convinced that government is an outright unnecessary evil. Among of the brightest of anyone here, but also a mad. Yes, mad genius.
5. Avo - Offensive and apparently defends an odd position for the sake of arguing. He adds some spice to debates, but his "arguing for the sake of arguing" habit has gotten old.
6. V.Kemp - Also one of the brightest debaters on IC politics, but offensive and unwavering.
Back when Equilian, Theodora, House Jarvin, JA, JAisgay, Thunder Hawk and Lizzy were around, the politics forum was far more lively and fostered productive debate. With the combination of characters we have left today, good debate just doesn't happen anymore.

Hah and there are those of us who just read from time to time to see the anachronism of perspectives. I realized long ago that no ground is gained in debate on these forums, however the opinions are forever entertaining.

I was here often when I first joined (02-05), but the debates became largely "ignore the other guy and repeat my point." It was fun for a time though.

Hello there. I didn't include you because I'm convinced that you are an alt of V.Kemp, or possible someone else. lol. Because whenever you appear, so does this other person.
I'm actually Justinian's alt. Except rather than coming on at the same time, I only come online when I have nothing else going for me in life, and he comes on to tell about the highlights of his life, mainly involving new hamburger recipes.

I doubt Key would be V.Kemp's "alt." I remember I used to confuse Einstein and Black_Wing a lot (sometimes I still do), which lead me for a brief time to think privately to myself that they were alter-egos.
I remember thinking the same thing about somebody else a long time ago, but I can't remember who or when.
I do remember thinking JA was possibly insane and not at all what he said he was (military veteran, this, that, and the other thing, etc). He had the online persona of a teenage boy who compulsively lies and invents these personalities that possess qualities or life experiences that whomever was behind the mask would desire for themselves.
edit: By the way, Key annoys me probably about as much as he annoys you. I remember in my thread about the FAA lightening the restrictions on pilots who are prescribed anti-depressants, I made the claim that there are US Army pilots on anti-depressants who are permitted to fly with their medical waiver. Key -- who claims to have served in the Signal Corps, mind you -- said there was no freaking way. I had already investigated the claim myself, and having been an Aviation Operations Specialist in the Army National Guard many, many years ago I was not about to make a claim that I wasn't positively sure was accurate.
So when challenged, I responded with all the appropriate sources and references that proved, unequivocally, that US Army pilots /can/ be cleared for flight operations with the appropriate waiver from an aeromedically-trained psychiatrist with regular follow-up evaluations throughout the course of the treatment.
Key would not hear any of it and kept insisting I was wrong, even though my sources were from actual US Army documents -- specifically the Aeromedical Policy Letters -- which are freely available online and that I had even provided direct links to. I dropped the matter right then and there.
Isn't that what Flint did as well? The inventer of the flint jump, inventor of a compression method, a self-discovered genius who could read faster than his shadow and was absolutely convinced he showed PhD students wrong when he was discussing their area (physics).
Black_Wing was sort of the same - I think - but he managed to do it better, so I doubt they're the same person. BW was supposed to be a succesful CEO of a NY-based compagny. Of course, being such a succesful person, he had all the time he wanted to play IC.
Fora like this live on exactly that freedom to lie and to get lied to. I always said I was a history student, but perhaps I'm a naked unemployed transsexual, with a passion to paint everything in pink.

I suppose you could make that argument. In my mind, however, there is a difference between pretending to be somebody you're not, and just plain suffering from delusions of grandeur. I think Flint was the latter case.
