get all the planets and hold them for a tick. i hear that's a good strat ![]()
yeh i think Eco will still play a big part in the decider of who wins.
i just wanna hear ppls ideas still ![]()
Get portalled close to each system and powerhouse it when you have enough fleet to defend each system with stat troops. Big chance everyone will op down anyone who gets a portal there but there are windows to maybe portal inside the core systems.
1. clear big attackers around it with ops or attacks
2. don't focus too much on the core systems, but on econ foremost!
3. always keep an eye out to other fams trying to make a move
indeed they was my thoughts too Elro, will be interesting to see what setup people use and so on ![]()
I agree with mister Brown, would be best to focus on infra early on but keep an eye on the key systems to not have anyone portal there. Possibly clear them with ops untill eco is satisfactory, then try securing some of those systems yourself
.
Of course getting spread around the systems will be really important. I wouldn't waste too much early on to get it though. Just imagine, 126 planets would take 126 expos > 2 days of saving expos for the biggest fam atm (10 players). However funding them would probably take some planets of infra so then it'd already take longer :\. Then other fams catch up... and you have yourself a lengthy round.
when i think about it, many scenarios, many strategies i can think of....i think it's going to be very difficult to hold them for one tick
maybe someone will prove me wrong by actions :-D
it will be impossible for 1 family to own every planet for 1 tick no matter how big the family, its a nice concept to spice up the game but with no allies or naps i say impossible.
once a fam looks like they are making their move there will be the rest of the galaxy concentrating on that family.
a better idea would of been to eliminate any family that doesnt have a planet in those systems after 3 weeks, then eliminating all other families each week that doesnt own a piece of the hill until one family wins it.
strat for koth
1. be better than everyone else
2. control the hills for 1 tick
3. ????
4. profit
5. sobriety
1. Save up for 15 DS
2. Win

yes.
should be hardcore! lol
yeah it should be hc. then you would stand a chance. tbh, i can see this round going on for a long time. 4-5 months, by that time, there will be only 2-3 families left who will be able to take the planets, then its just down to them to pluck up the courage.
1. Your family's races and roles should mirror that of a normal galaxy. You will need a good economy to fund the effort of taking those KOTH planets.
BANKERS: i suggest having 1 or 2 pop bankers because the round could last a long time. Nobody is gonna make a move on those KOTH planets anytime soon. Partaxians make decent pop bankers and you will want op/spell heavy bankers. I would avoid Revalon bankers due to their lack of control/info ops. Agent based custom bankers are also a good choice.
RESOURCERS: You will want custom resourcers with 100 Speed. Their speed will come in handy to help take and hold KOTH planets. They should be loaded with spells and agent ops and preferably a 50% magic bonus. You could sacrifice research for an attack bonus to help with attacks. the more empires you have with the potential to attack, the better.
ATTACKERS: With the round potentially lasting a long time research can be done slowly. You should have at least 1 camaar as your main attacker, probably 2. The 200 speed is just too valueable for getting to those KOTH planets and retaking them.
2. You still need to conduct wars against other familys. Your economy needs to grow and at the same time you want to stunt the growth of other familys. Space is at premium in this galaxy. The ring formation looks big, but there isnt that many systems to go around. Getting those systems at the outer edge of the map will be a smart move. There is alot of space between them and they could be potenitally hard to take away from you. Your gonna want a secure core and those are ideal.
3. Special Ops are gonna be one of the most important factors here. Every empire in your family will need to have key operations. Every non Camaar should have either Sab Portal or Create Portal Force Field. Its a long way to travel to bust those KOTH planets with fleet. Destroy Units is VERY VERY important here. Its quite obvious why.
4. Science will be important but can be invested into somewhat slowly if the round lasts as long as we predict. I suggest bankers and resourcers invest heavily into Military Science. It adds to defense and these empires could help hold KOTH planets. I notice alot of bankers ignore Military Science in normal rounds. Once your science 'maxes out' in the other areas why not research Military?
5. Build as many Defense Stations as your economy can afford. Obviously not right away. Elro touched on a good strategy of holding down the systems near the KOTH planets. These are good staging ground to launch your final assault for the KOTH planets. If you can manage to get a DS close to them and eventually move them into a KOTH system....nice ![]()
I hear talk of exploring the KOTH planets all at once. I doubt that is a viable strategy. It will take too long accumulate eships fast enough to try this. According to the set up i dont think the KOTH planets can be blown up anyways.
I say be brave when it comes to exploring a few KOTH planets. Some familys might try to avoid exploring them soon. There are some good resource bonuses in there and it might be worth sending a resourcer down there. A good laser trap early in the round might be a decent investment. Get a portal going early and you could take out any other invaders that try the same tactic.
Thats my 2 cents on the KOTH strategy.
I think pop bankers are dangerous here, your fam are gona need to produce octarine and food to look after you and there isnt enough planets for this.
Crucially, pop bankers work in a big map when there are allies and naps - you have time to build ur the pop guy with rc/planets/infra. This round is all about taking out your enemy early on before they become to powerful and pop bankers will put way too much drag on a family and wil bring them down.
I'd go for custom cf/to, get quick income sorted, raid your nearest fams early on till they are dead, then control the inner ring of the map in your area. Thats a good position to be in.
I disagree ICE...
Pop bankers are the best when the planets are few. CF bankers needs lots of planets to make good income. Your assuming that taking out your neighbors will be an easy goal to accomplish. LQs now hold 650, that alone makes it worth while to have at least one pop banker.
i cant help but notice aa has gotten smart over the past few days
herp derp
Interesting..... my better strategy is delete soon of PW and I am going the beach!
Ya better strategy. ![]()
my intelligence is just a figment of your imagination.
increase in lqs are handy i admit, but due to the KOTH rules, there are gona b more partaxs/custom with ops/magic around then usual so pop banking is even more dangerous then usual rounds.
with more paxes cf banking is just as dangerous with oct hurricane.
