1 million seems a little high I think their capital city was around 400-600k population at the time the spanish came. Have to remember the Aztecs and Mayans were trying to capture their enemies not kill them. Human sacrifice yay!

That and the dirty spanish were so diseased.... killed 90% of the south and central american native populations

The Mayan calendar is more accurate then the one we use today

They controlled a larger part of south america so fact are the priest army was rather small wich of couse had a good reason.
People who rebbeled against them where killed to last woman man and child.
The king had another army.
And their "allies" had yet another big army.
If they had choosen to fight the spaniish the spannish wouldnt have stood a chance.

Not likly as all european nations where fighting like mad for the trade routes and the right to form colonies in asia africa and The americas.
it was rather a bit of all against all to get there first and gain control over the huge riches wich was in the balance.

While spain controled most of the americas they could lose there fleet and amy in a war and 1 year later have had build up another army and another fleet with the cash of ONE ship.

i wish spaniards werent that dumb to wipe out Mayans. I mean, they got awesome knowledge about astrology and mathematics. It would have been fantastic gifts to the world. :-P

Sense noone is acctually doing a pvc we have to settle for a history channel AA.
And sense some dont know the history behind things we talk about someone with more knowlidge need to inform these slackers of some facts.
