interesting that for some people rounds are still too long... I remember there were a time where a round lasted 10 weeks, than 8 now 5-6.... maybe we do 2 week rounds? the end of the story will be that the family will win who had most players active at sor. if this is the criteria to win, we dont need to play IC anymore. then round needs to last only 1 hour and the family with most players online will win... tongue

Thats cause back in the days there were a lot of fams and thus more fighting for planets etc. So you had more to do before you actually won...

problem is there are usuall about 5 decent fams. alliances means we have at best 3 alliances who can compete out of like 8 alliances. hence why i think a round with bigger fams but no allies would be interesting. its difficult for any of the top 6 to hit eachother bcoz they are either allied or alliance napped or risk a full on 2v2 if they wana hit anyone.

with no allies, we would have more fams in a position to hit eachother and there is no reason why all the top 6 fams could not each have at least 3 big wars with eachother, which is between 2-3 times more then the current amount.

why are there 3 family alliances when IC fails to have even 6 fully loaded families? alliances make things fail. your dependant on a vast group of people which we all know how that goes. PW switched 1st rank family multiple time and until recently there was a chance for someone else to take over. now its just 97s show tongue. long story short. if you do a merger dont do allies or naps it will be a lot more interesting

a few reasons i dislike alliances. just by reading this thread there are counts of smaller families who are isolated on 3 sides by an alliance which makes it impossible for them to grow. attack one and get the others to follow... i have also seen a lot of alliance breaks over the years simply because one family is struggling. this leaves that family without allys and often stay that way for the rest of the round. and once again you always see the same people in the same alliances even after shuffles.. why? because they know they will be active and have a major upper hand on others. this is unfair and ruins the game for any possible newcomers.
