Re: SS no good?

I have absolutely no problems with SS players, as long as they communicate with the fam.  If they're going to go off and attack/op fams that tactically are a bad idea for the fam as a whole, or if they're going to ignore things like NAP cores etc then they're a liability. There's been times where I've lead and my best attacker was SS.  There's also been times where I've had to mark SS players as rogue for angering the wrong fams.  The fact that they're SS doesn't really impact the fam in any other way, they're not a drain on resources, they're no more an 'easy in' to your fams systems than any other member of your fam (and much less than any inactive members).

Re: SS no good?

I think you confuse SS as an economic model, with someone who plays as not part of the family. My best round was SS economically, but I still gave over 100 planets to the family 'banker'. I just refused to rely on his money for recovering my fleet - yet knowing (if necessary) that I did have that option.

SS is not the most efficient economic model and truthfully doesn't exist as you'll always need to use the market from time to time. However, you are not dependent on others and many of the biggest empires in the game have played SS - a pop banker can only be so big before that model becomes a potential huge liability to the family.

Re: SS no good?

Every player I've played with who's been SS has always been really unhelpful through the round, But Does an EPIC EOR jump, Last guy I was with jumped to 27Mil NW and made our fam go from 11th place to third ^_^.

Edit

Just checked his name it was Silvarian in the Pinwheel round ended on 2009-09-08

Been dreaming, I've been waiting, To fly with those brave ponies
The Wonderbolts, their daring tricks, Spinning 'round and having kicks
Perform for crowds of thousands, They'll shower us with diamonds
The Wonderbolts will see me right here at the Gala!

lol, ss players in a larger families only profit of their family. They don't help clearing out and communicating? hmmm hmm Everyone can pwn as ss when the only thing they have to do is explore and build wink
