One thing I like is Obama cannot "save" anymore companies. But most of those actions he already did. I also hope they adjust the so called health care to something better. I'm not totally against a little health care but this one is, besides very nonfunctional and bound to be corrupt, even worse as the old euro system. To much is wasted on bureaucracy, and only some companies profit.
things are going to get worse before they get better
interesting event: The US Federal Reserve, acting on its own, is writing checks to buy US Treasury bonds. This is basically printing money to loan to the federal govt. It is going to devalue our dollar so the Fed hopes people will be forced to spend more, not save more as prices go up.
The Fed doesnt ask permission from Congress or the President to do this.
The President is the one who has to explain to the world why their US bonds are losing value, and why their imports to the USA are falling off as prices rise.
I don't think this House and this President will agree the Fed was set up to create stagflation and a trade war.
devaluing the dollar is good though Yell. it means US exports are cheaper, and imports more expensive. i.e. less incentive to buy foreign goods over American.
Great! I can't wait for the wave of industrial projects to replace Arab oil and Chinese steel!
oh wait, we're on a carbon-reduction kick ain't we?
If I'd live in America I'd be neither republican nor democrat. I'd just hate whatever group has power ![]()
You hate the Illuminati?
Very simple theory from me: Before this election, the Democrats had a near-monopoly on power. With the supermajority in the Senate (until the Massachusettes special election, that is) and control of the House, a unified party could have done whatever the hell it wanted on the domestic front, short of amending the Constitution. When writing the Health Care bill, Democrats took a number of opportunities to tell Republicans that they didn't matter by drafting legislation that ignored 100% of GOP concerns (once the Democrats splintered on reform, individual Repubicans began to matter more).
With Republicans controlling both the House and enough senators to smash the supermajority to bits, Democrats now have to court Republicans (at least the more moderate Republicans) in order to pass legislation. That means the system goes back to what makes it work: the fight for consensus-building and compromise among legislators. Long story short, regardless of my politics, I like a divided government.
Oh, and go away, Yell. You're less on topic than if I were to start posting baking recipies.

thats me, but i hate republicans less then i hate democrats, so for like president i'll vote 3rd party, but in the smaller scale elections, where my vote actually might count, i vote republican typically to try to get those evil democrats out of office. i wonder how many new democrats that were elected were either a minority or female. thats the democratic party's new strategy, make everything about race or sex.
you'll be baking a lot more now that the price of bread is going to be artificially inflated
the new Republican majority should oppose the Fed
zarfy,
while you have some spare time, care to post an on-topic answer to my last post in the "Trident replacement" thread?
I should have some free time today. All the other real life busy stuff's been done! ![]()

"Making a post that draws the correlation between A and B after you post B, which previously had no explained link to A, doesn't mean you were on topic with the original reference to B. "
Right. The topicality of post B exists positively by the correlation between B and the subject post, whether I make that post or not.
You bit off too much, because I was the 2nd person and the 3rd post in this thread. I could have talked about Brie cheese and it would have been relevant had I shown that any Republican, or any observer of Republicans, quoted a Republican on, or demonstrated a hope that a Republican would take up, the subject of Brie cheese.
">audits would
I'd love to see a return to fiscal sanity, but I expect the Republican establishment to side with Democrats/socialists as much as they do with the "Tea Party" sentiment that it's a bad idea to spend so much we tank the dollar and ruin our kids' futures. =/ This problem is enhanced by the fact that measures that will tank our dollar soon have already been passed. Takeovers and bailouts have already been done. The healthcare industry already has its first big blow passed, just waiting to hit with full force in the coming years.
What I'm saying is that I don't have faith in Republicans. That the country has turned back to Republicans slightly, who were near as much of the problem as democrats, rather than a more sane group like Libertarians, is a testament to the fact that many Americans deserve what the USA has coming to it.
I'm American. This makes me
.
Edit: Bernanke said under oath we wouldn't monetize the debt. He should be prosecuted when we do.
Bernanke is a con artist and needs to go. I'm not one for being a good global partner, but if the USA is gonna piss off the human race it should not be decided by 15 bankers

He will just climb into his helicopter and fly away
"One thing I like is Obama cannot "save" anymore companies"
You guys ARE making a profit from said companies.
http://whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com/
The "profit" comes when you include the ADDED EQUITY. They gave us MORE STOCK in their company. Yay!
Aaaaand...when we have another recession within 12 years, WE GET TO BAIL THEM OUT AGAIN! YAY!
Adn the WTO considers it a subsidy and the EU is allowed to "correct" for it! Yay!!!
Regarding that cute list
WTF are FEDERAL crimes of "violence against women" that we're supposed to prosecute? I'm guessign none.
Helping gays doesn't impress me a bit.
Just about every administration helps Vets, Obama considered throwing them on private insurance so screw him, and with his plan to lose 2 wars a lot more widows are gonna need that free trip to Dover.
Did you bail them out twelve years ago?
"WTF are FEDERAL crimes of "violence against women" that we're supposed to prosecute? I'm guessign none."
I'm not an expert in American law sorry, something that you could look into.
"Helping gays doesn't impress me a bit."
Okay
"Just about every administration helps Vets, Obama considered throwing them on private insurance so screw him, and with his plan to lose 2 wars a lot more widows are gonna need that free trip to Dover."
Ending wars causes more widows, odd correlation?
