Topic: Once again

This is the 10th time I expose this idea, it is simple, dont argue

Give 150 race points instead of 120, it is a slight change but it can really make a good improvement to the (dying) game.

Just TEST it

Good idea i say smile Mix it up a little

Re: Once again

If you can't post an explanation of why this would be a good change, then there's really no need to post an idea.

It's hard enough to get Stefan to work on a project we KNOW will help the game now that Adoross is gone, and it seems it's not the best use of his time to change things just for the sake of changing things.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Re: Once again

if the usefulness isn't that obvious, then it's probably not that useful? yikes

I gave the reason in the last 9 times

How about you copy and paste your reason?

reasons are obvious when you test it, you can add more stuff to your race, new roles will appear by giving 30 extra points, I cannot tell exactly what would happen, all I can say is the change is an IMPROVEMENT, and if you want to prove me wrong then TEST IT

Re: Once again

You're... not presenting a reason!  Your answer is literally "New stuff will happen... not sure what, but new stuff is good."

Let me explain it this way.  If Stefan/Adoross are working on the game right now, the burden of proof on you is more than simply proving your idea is a good idea.  There is a limit to what they can/will do at any given time.  As a result, if this idea were done, it would trade off with another idea on the list which at least would have proven itself to be a good enough idea to justify the change.

As a result, it's not sufficient to suggest code-changing modifications with the only justification being "change is good."  Two reasons:
1: Change is perpetual.  Your idea won't encourage Stefan/Adoross to dedicate more time to coding, so the only other option they have would be to delay/cancel another important modification.  Whatever was thrown out would have "mixed up" the game (unless it was a bug fix, in which case it was probably more important), so change is inevitable either way.
2: This trades off with other, possibly more important modifications.  You have to show, at the very least, that this is a good enough idea to justify putting it ahead of other things on the list.

Re: Once again

code-changing modifications? it is only change a number, 150 instead of 120

And my idea rocks, the reason? because I rock

now test it tongue

Re: Once again

Do you know how difficult it is to vpn to your server and open up a text file to change?

Do you!?

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: Once again

The flaw in your plan is that there's always races active in IC. Meaning that newcomers in a galaxy have a 30 point race advantage (which is quite a lot). Not to mention that if we do this, we'll have to revise all the custom races as well.

Re: Once again

Obviously Primo, those races would fall obsolete, but you can take your favourite race and make a new one with the stuff you had plus some aditions (more ops, more research ...)

The standard races don't have to be revised at all cause they're still superior to customs (70% research in Quantums, 70% magic on paxes plus OHs, 60% econ on revalons, etc..)

@Aro, idk how hard is to open a code to modify a LINE (or maybe 2), but this is really an easy modification, it's not adding a new module, just to change a number.

Re: Once again

there are too many games where the developers actually give a damn for IC to thrive with one that doesn't... there is no saving ic. even if this was implemented, the occasional change to ic won't save it.

Re: Once again

this idea completely sucks!

how can this idea have this much response when a quality idea like reducing the length of round in accordance with the fewer wars/players/fams gets completely ignored.

there isn't even one benefit to this idea tongue

Re: Once again

yes it is, bankers can be more bankers, attackers can be more attackers, SS can be more SS, players get more points to invest in speed so the game is FASTER, stupid lowbrainers, everybody saying they want faster rounds, reduce tic to 30 mins and stuff like that impossible to implement without a new server

reduce tic = increase speed, increase research, etc...   do you get it???

Re: Once again

in facto, if you get the actual numbers for any race and multiply by 10 then your tics will be 10x faster, nothing changes, not at all, only maybe...the game is boosted!!

do you get it now? do I have to explain it deeper?

Re: Once again

cant you set up an experimental galaxy called Dimension X or something cool and scifi in which to test out ideas like this?
