Topic: Cyclone in Burma, earthquake in China, fighting in Lebanon...

Where is all the debate on the up to date news? Why are we not arguing over the stubborn delay of aid to the Burmese people or the outside influences leading Lebanon back to civil war?

Alright, here is a topic, why has Burma been so stubborn in receiving aid from other countries? are they afraid that armed soldiers will be hidden in boxes of food and take over the country? The Burmese people are not stupid, when over a hundred thousand people die people notice, and even more will know when the rest die in the streets from lack of food, clean water, and disease.

Re: Cyclone in Burma, earthquake in China, fighting in Lebanon...

nobody cares about the cyclone in myanmar, also it's a rip off from the tsunami most people will agree the average myanmari is screwed by his government; lebanon is complicated and it's been discussed since the 80's and most people will agree hezbollah is going overboard;

but the US presidential elections now that's something new

Re: Cyclone in Burma, earthquake in China, fighting in Lebanon...

Myanmar (Burma) is this way because of the evil Corporations of the world.

China had an earth quake because of Global Warming.

Lebanon....well that the fault of the US Govt. backing Israel of course.

* * * * *

Also, lets not forget about another UN teacher that got blown up in a bomb factory.
YEa....a UN employee, a HAMAS bomb builder, teaching young Children in Gaza.

But, Israel is lying when they say that HAMAS uses UN Vehicles to move about.

Come .......joust w/the master.

Any post that is so obviously loaded is not a good one; I think BW is just looking for an argument.
As for the original question:

I wouldn't let the aid workers in either, not because they might be soldiers or secret agents out to get but because they would have outside ideas, and more importantly outside news. To be honest I don't see the mystery, surely the answer was as obvious to everyone else as it was to me, or do we not have the ability to put ourselves in another man's shoes?

It's not the food that's prohibited, but the people of organisations, and I'm sure you know why. The junta fears that ideas might penetrate the country, leading the country into a rebellion...

And BW, wtf?

Israel can say all they want, afaik there's no UN in Gaza atm (where Hamas is active), so how would they be able to get those vehicles?

God: Behold ye angels, I have created the ass.. Throughout the ages to come men and women shall grab hold of these and shout my name...

Re: Cyclone in Burma, earthquake in China, fighting in Lebanon...

ummm actually i believe the thing is, they will let the food in so that the army can distribute it. This gives the army a favourable image as the saviours. Thus increasing the apeal of the current government/whatever u call it

If aid workers were let in it detracts from their efforts and doesnt make them seem as heroic.

basically its propaganda at its simplest

2012.  Mayans said so.

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: Cyclone in Burma, earthquake in China, fighting in Lebanon...

no no, I got plans for after that. So it needs to be extended a little
