Topic: A new philosophy

Hows this sound :

Take from the people what they earn.
Give the people what they need.

Flawless, no starvation, every one has shelter, and the government gets surplus balance, now if you are worried about revoltz, use the army to surpress the mass's.

Question: What motivates me to excel if the government takes 100% of what I earn?

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

I liked the army crushing the puny citizens part.

That gets people to work, but does it get people to reach to their fullest potential?

Re: A new philosophy

Does it give incentives for innovation?

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

well the slave trade worked due to fear that can be implimented, the only difference between this and the slave trade is you have a choice not to work, No work you get shot. So bassically to make you work to your best have a series of punishments :

1. First offence 100 lashs
2. Second offence - Forced to shoot a kid

And so the list goes on all the way to death by 1000 cuts

Want a get out clause ? Someone needs to be in the army, maybe its your lucky day, hey they might even let you keep your computer

Re: A new philosophy

It sounds like the USSR. It doesn't work.

1.) motive to work.
If you need people to "work for all", you need a control system. In this system a democratic one would fall. So you need a totalitarian regime, which is corrupted by default. This causes HUGE corruption, waste and a large and costly bureaucracy.

2.) in order to give people "what they need", you need to consider a few things:
1 it might be impossible.
2 who's going to decide what somebody needs?
3 to control it, you need a large bureaucracy and that is very costly and destined to be corrupt.
