I put this in the announcements, but I'll put it here too: we want feedback on the "shuffle after every round" thing, so let us know.

I personally enjoy playing with a different crew every round. I also think that shuffling every round will help balance the game a bit and prevent "superfams" from getting even stronger when all the player stick around, plus getting new randoms. In addition, as Torqez said, it will give us a lot more freedom in setting up the rounds.

One negative to reshuffling every round will be to the family chemistry. In my family's case there are 3-4 players who are brand new to the game and a couple others that are "green",  that have needed some time to get accustomed to it. Now that they are getting used to how the game is we won't have the next round to try and be better then this round

I random almost every round as it is so this isn't much of a change for me. But (of course) this round I'd have stayed in family to see how well we could do next round :-/

Maybe in the future you could do a poll before the round ends to all members of the galaxy to see if they want a reshuffle or keep the families as is for another round. The maximum delay in a reshuffle would be the one extra round so you'd be reshuffling after the next round no matter what.

Ya, that was one of the motivations we thought of too.  No point spending a whole round trying to random in with buddies.  Plus with more drafts, this now becomes redundant too.

Gondor does have a point, yep.  But another thing to consider is that these new players can also mix with other players and then get a vast array of playstyles from other people, more often.  Rather than learning the same thing from the same person every time.  Also, if you can teach them to idle on irc, questions and help on how to play etc, is never far away for anyone.

We tried this weith our 'Mentor' programme, just recently.  However, it was somewhat abused and sadly did not have the affect we desired.

Reshuffle every other round, not every round.

no, not tutor. the mentor program was where we placed new players fresh out of virgo in a fam in a regular galaxy. players volunteered to be "mentors" and each fam was allowed to have one new player placed in their fam randomly

That's kinda the point, no?  Drafts, so that you can play with people you want.

We do have Pinwheel as our non drafting galaxy - if you prefer no drafts.

Sounds good to me, I'll keep randoming, but AM NOT ATTACKING ANYMORE.  PERIOD.

Just putting that out there so I won't go back and change my mind.

One reason that the mentor system did not work , and it's a big one, was the mentors did not keep us updated on their hereabouts. Another reason was is either the mentor or mentee went inactive.  There were complaints from both sides.
Also a problem encountered was the family was already full when a mentee came available.
