Re: Countdown to American Elimination
Italy are very boring tonight.
Hell the world cup should get more exciting once its knockouts, no draws, no ties, just either win or let penalties decide!

lol at Soccer.
Rugby is a proper sport.
Soccer players fall over because of random gusts of wind and then after hitting the ground roll over 3 times clutching their face.
heck half the players should be up for the Olympics diving competition.
thats cruel, you know they'd drown lying on the bottom waiting for a ref to throw a red card
in basketball a successful dive gets you 2 pts best case scenario. while typical basketball games have what, like 120-180 pts. in soccer a successful dive gets you a goal. while typically soccer games have 1-5 goals.... thats why basketball can be a successful spectator sport in the US and soccer cannot; the reward of a goal from a dive is way larger then the reward for a dive in basketball... in basketball you're looking at 1/60th to 1/90gh of the game pts from a successful dive, in soccer its 100% to 1/5th of the goals from a game can be scored from a single dive...
So basicly, the problem lies with a problematic attention span or a lack of patience?

no, it lies in games being decided by flops.
some players started diving in rugby but everybody just laughed at them the embarrassment caused them to stop lol
the problem with football (soccer) is that it's difficult to score and therefore can get very boring when both sides lack the offensive ability to take on the other sides defense.
that would take us back to problematic attention span and/or lack of patience (with the spectators)
the main reason soccer will never be a popular spectator sport in the US is because it rewards diving way too much. the hero of the match is the forward that dove and tricked the ref into giving his team a pk that ended up being the sole goal of the game.... no american can respect a professional sport league that has that taking place.
In stead you all take steroids to the point where your eyeballs are starting to grow hair.
avo's our devil's advocate anytime, anywhere, on any subject
we should cut him some slack (or not xD)

No, that can't be true because we like baseball.

1. NBA dives more often.
2. You get a personal foul on an opposing team member and he only gets 5 before he's benched for the game.
If you can get 2 pts on the Lakers, bench Kobe Bryant, and run down the clock in the 4th quarter of game 5, that's a big deal, almost as big as a goal in a game that lets you advance with a tie.

your point
?
we obviously have a great deal of patience to watch people hit 14 foul balls in a row.
then the commentators earn their pay.
"2-2 pitch, fouled away. Gregson is a graduate of Stanton, with a 4.5 in engineering. 2-2 pitch, fouled away. He may be best known for not getting along at all with A-Rod. 2-2 pitch, foul. They were fishing on Puget Sound last spring, and Gregson put a bomb in A-Rods boat. 2-2 pitch...checking the first base umpire...foul. A-Rod rode the boat to the bottom, walked along the seafloor onto the beach, looked Gregson in the eye and said, "Don't do that again." 2-2 pitch---popped up---Walker's going after---lands foul."
guess nobody gives a damn about today's games ![]()
I think its bogus that taking off your shirt earns a penalty
It's stupid that you would take your shirt off knowing that there is a punishment ![]()
I only saw about 20mins of New Zealand Vs Slovenia earlier, it wasn't great. Watched a bit of Brazil Vs North Korea. I thought North Korea were going to hold out and do it but once Brazil managed to score I didn't care anymore (North Korea weren't exactly going to equalise:P).
Wtf happened to the ball for Brazil's first goal though? He didn't put any spin on it to make it curl and it moved a mile.
guess avoiding malnutrition can improve your footy
All whites!!!! SD you muppet the NZ game was awesome
though i might be one sided...
Well I only watched 20 mins before half time, it wasn't unentertaining but it wasn't really high standard. Both teams would still probably beat England though.
i like MMA or prize fighting i can watch... thats the only sport that is exiting... the rest have become blase, unless you play them...
North Korea had problems finding their free man.
North Korea usually arrests their free men, what did you expect? ![]()
