Topic: Union Jack Redux

This is my re-working of the Union Jack, let me talk you through it:

The first thing you will have noticed is the Welsh dragon, I added this mostly because the welsh have no representation on the current Union Jack, and therefore it is wrong.

You may also notice the lack of diagonal (this way // \\ ) red stripes. These currently represent Northern Ireland, a place that has been making increasingly loud reunification noises, couple this with the trend formed by the results of every reunification vote there has ever been (more and more NI-ers want reunification) and you can probably understand why I think Northern Ireland will one day leave the United Kingdom, and therefore leave the Union Jack.

Scotland's representation is now clearly visible, and no longer appears to be ranked sub-Northern Ireland.

I didn't see any reason to bugger about with the red cross of England, although technically it should be diagonal if it is to be correct as a cross of St George, but it has been like that for donkeys years so meh.

The VOC was a state company, not the other way around. It makes perfect sense.

On a side note, I don't see any diagonal cross for ireland everywhere though. The northern ireland flag is the same as the english one but with an Ulster hand in the middle, no?

First of all, you confuse "german" wich "germanic", wich is a totally different thing.
And second, it's nearly impossible to date anything back to that age. Anything at all (or you should mean the Nazi-germania tongue).

I think everything that reinforces Welsh identity should be ruthlessly extinguished. People who refuse to assimilate, especially when it has been 900 years since they have been conquered, deserve to die.

It's a different story when a conquered civilization's culture heavily influences the conqueror, as Rome did to the barbarians, as Greece did to Rome, and as Byzantium did to the Turks.

The Welsh were barbarians who raided England constantly even before the union of Wessex, Mercia and Northumbria in to England. England therefore conquered and subdued the savages, and the Welsh who hang on to their past identities should finally recognize that their ancestors were savages and adopt the "better" ways outside of Wales. The Welsh, however, remain bull headed, as most barbarians do - like Afghanistan and the Southern USA.
