Topic: Will Spain ever learn?

Well they lost their AAA rating today.

They think raising taxes works to pay off a deficit.


The real issue is WHY DID YOU MAKE A DEFICIT IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Haven't you heard? Clinton told us today that higher taxation is good for the economy. She was elected to the Senate because her husband was President. She knows what she's talking about. And he was a great president because... um... a lot of welfare recipients say so. And they're successful, so they must know what they're talking about.

Raising taxes is like taking a loan to pay of your mortgage... If another crisis occures they will have to raise taxes again to prop up the goverments spending, ad infinitum.

The only viable to reducing a deficiate is cutting goverment spending.

They can't compete with Northern European export economies, and since they're part of the Euro, they can not lower their currency to compensate. Besides that, they're also socialists and mediterraneans, bad combo.

Given the history between our two countries (United Kingdom & Espania) I think it is understandable, and possibly even within the rules when I say:

[], it's their own fault for having an economy based on stealing fish, treasure, etc from other people's watersd without permission.

Nail on the head. The answer I'm afraid is simple. Politicians buy popularity and goodwill with money they lend. People are fooled in a very simple and classic way.

A lot of politicians manage to get away with it rather easy. Like Obama or Berlusconi.
