If you look closely you can see that the older guy is really into it... either that or he is a damn good actor.
We have a very broad vocal range, and an much broader hearing range, and I think it is silly to not make full use of both. omg, Mortician. You just lost points. They are awful beyond the awful. Filling up half your albums with samplers from horror movies and making the rest of it a bunch of uninspired riffs with a silly drum machine and vocals like a pig with a cold on top, not my kind of thing. If you hadn't listed Nile, I'd have guessed you had no taste at all tongue


Anyway, before I go to bed. For all you who don't like the grunting kind of Metal, "One Second" by Paradise Lost. Easily one of the most sublime albums ever by one of the greatest bands in history.

I'll never know if it was worth the pain, but I still loved it more than anything in the world - it was my life.

To ignore the above question (I have no real answer) and to name a few more bands people just *have* to check out or already know.


Helloween (I'm listening to them right now and thought "damn, how could I forget them?") - especially their oldest work is brilliant imo.

Heathen - Speed/Thrash of the best kind. Their two albums are available for download on their own site so no reason not to listen. http://www.heathenmetal.com/

Blackshine - harder to find in my own experience, but awesome. I especially like the song "Soulless & Proud". They're some sort of Power-influenced Thrash.

Woods of Ypres - a hybrid between Black and Doom and one of the best bands around. I bought them when I heard they were a recommendation for fans of Agalloch and I haven't been disappointed since. Agalloch is also a huge recommendation for those who like a band that doesn't stay within one genre.

Reverend Bizarre - good old-fashioned Doom Metal. A must-hear band if you like Doom bands like Saint Vitus, Black Sabbath, etc.!

Havayoth - how to describe this other than "mind-numbingly beautiful". Yeah, that'll do. Gothic Metal without any grunts, screams or anything (or female vocals). Just the basics, dark tunes that ooze beauty.

Edit: Alch, I have two Sol Invictus albums. One on which is the original "Kneel to the Cross" version. I'll add it to your HFS wink
