Topic: IC Families: Create a family forum!
So, I made this offer to the moderators on Saturday and I haven't heard anything from them since other than a "no decision" on Sunday. Rather than keep on waiting so long that the offer doesn't do people any good, I'm going to go ahead and post about it here. If any mods feel it's inappropriate, feel free to close the thread. ![]()
I run a free forum host, PunBB-Hosting (http://www.punbb-hosting.com). Some of you may be familiar with the site already: it's where the IC Mafia forum and the external IC forum are hosted. My offer is simple: any family that wishes to create a forum on the site may do so and I will remove the ads that I normally display on the forums.
My offer is extended to any SD families (and to any IC families /groups in general) that wish to use the site. The forum can be linked to from the leader message and the family has complete control over it. My suggestions for running a secure forum (if anyone has any questions on how to do this, just ask and I'll be more than happy to be more specific):
- Remove Guests ability to read the board
- Create a new group for newly registered users.
- Remove the new group's ability to read the board.
- Set the new group to be the default group for new registrations.
- Administrators can manually "approve" the users by moving them in to a normal usergroup.
By following those directions, the administrator(s) of the forum have complete control over who can read the site and what they can read, be they allies, family members, etc.
Whoever the administrator(s) of the forum is/are has complete control over the site. You'll find that you have a lot of controls you can work with. If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to ask at the support forum: http://www.punbb-hosting.com/forums/support/
Anybody who wishes to take advantage of this offer may do so by going to http://www.punbb-hosting.com/create_forum.php and creating a forum. To have the ads removed from the forum, just post the link to your forum in this thread and ask for the ads to be removed.
