Topic: Some of my thoughts about some stuff in IC
So this is going to be a post about some of my opinions of IC and some pretty common recurring problems/themes. These are all just my opinions. I am not voicing this for anybody else or the fam I’m in. Hopefully my ideas/thoughts are not too jumbled/crazy long

Farming:
One thing I keep hearing about is how big fams farm small fams. I don’t see why that is a problem. When you enter that galaxy you know what rules are present in that galaxy. In a non-hardcore galaxy you have a max of 7 ops at once and you regenerate 1 op a tick. You have 110% morale as well. You may use those ops to target anybody and you may attack people that are 35% of your networth. There, done. You join a non-hardcore galaxy and those are some of the features present in that galaxy. You join a hardcore galaxy and you get unlimited morale + special operations.
Whose fault is it that a fam may outgrow yours and then have the economic advantage to make bigger fleets than you and to take away your planets? If your fam is not organized enough to fight back, then you do not deserve to keep those planets anyways. Do not think that you can play for a decent rank while the whole fam is playing half-heartedly (or even less than that in quite a number of cases) without proper coordination/communication/organization. You are where you are, if you cannot improve or play better then at least don’t blame others. Whatever happens (fairly, without lying/cheating) in IC happens. You will win and lose from time to time. Bad things happens. Learn from your mistakes, deal with it, and improve.
Most of the time, as long as the big fams get strong enough and have plans to fight each other later, I don’t see too much of a problem with taking off planets from other weaker fams to get more planets to build more infra.
How to improve some of the issues for people who cannot be as active? Maybe make a more chill galaxy where you may only attack people that are 50% of your NW? You only got 50% morale at max? Max of 5 spec ops? Or just a galaxy with no attacks or non-self ops allowed and just see who can grow the biggest in a set amount of time? Those can be left in the ideas thread.

NAP-whining, NAP-breaking:
Seriously, you play the game and there should be some form of trust when you say and sign something. I don’t really have a problem with a family cancelling on another family when they have the upper hand, because when the NAP was made both sides should be aware of the terms given out. IF any party is not happy with the terms, then it shouldn’t have been made in the first place. There is no trust/word broken when you cancel a NAP and wait for the entire cancellation period fair and square.
This is especially true with those ignorant small fams who think that making a non-permanentNAP early on means they are safe forever. YOU ARE NOT. If you cannot keep up with the fams around you that you have NAPs with then be prepared to be cancelled upon. If this is such a worry for the small fams, then either consider fighting your neighbors early on OR come up with better terms with them that would protect you in the future. Otherwise shut up and do not whine/NAP-break when you get cancelled on fair and square based on the terms agreed upon.
So this means when you sign a NAP, follow the rules. Do not go out and pick loopholes and such. One thing I hate about making NAPs and deals in IC is how careful you have to be with some words etc. Of course being technical and precise is important to make sure people don’t use what you said (on accident) against you. But let us have some courtesy and common sense when the NAP was made.
When it is indeed a 48hr NAP, and it has been cancelled, then yea, play by the rules and play properly. (Of course this could go into ideas and have it implement so that all family members are automatically ingamed that a NAP with whom has been cancelled and when attacks may start. You still want to be able to do ops though such as SOT and vision, infiltrates etc etc to do war planning in the meantime). When there are cores made, then please follow them and be fair. If you are the fam that has intruders in cores you are not supposed to be in, you guys should be responsible to REASONABLY pass those planets back to the fam with the core.
For example, if you have a small player explore in there, give that other fam the courtesy to take that planet within some sort of attackable NW range. (This could also be somehow implemented in ideas on how to deal with trading planets in a NAPPED situation).
Other things include when a compensation needs to be paid, then at least pay for it ASAP with people with appropriate NW sending the eships or what not.
Respect the deals, respect the people you dealt the deals with. Make IC a less stressful game to play.

Reduce Draftings in a “serious” galaxy:
I am against this as I play the game to be with some of the people I met/know from the past. If I am in a family that I cannot have anyone I trust to at least properly coordinate/run a family then what motivation do I have to keep playing?
OR if I am in a fam with other fam members that I happen to have bad history/chemistry with, then I will just be more inclined to quit? There’s not much time left for IC for some people and I am very much less inclined to go through and be patient with a lot of the people I meet in IC. Other cases include people that I am in a fam that are not really trying to go for the win, then I know in the end it will most likely just be me trying my hardest to contend for the win.
It would be nice if there are a good number of vip/drafts such that there are plenty of people who can teach the other randoms/new people the things and stuff. A bigger family to cover for each other as everyone’s RL is important. And it is very difficult when families nowadays entirely rely on 1-2 main attackers/leaders. If they are busy/gone then who is going to take over? With more drafts then there could be more those type of people to take things over and ease the load on a more regular basis.
Keep in mind this is for more “serious” galaxies where people want to be competitive and contend for the win. (This is my initial thought, although when you join a galaxy you could play to have fun, but I think to certain extent you still want to play to win right?) Bigger fams with more players per fam, reduce the # of fams, and keep the VIP/draft slots at a good number such that there will be a bigger base of players in larger fams while still having random slots to teach some of the newcomers. This gives the old IC players some fun with their friends while having enough experienced people with enough time to teach the new randoms.

Manners/Egos:
I think it’s good to joke around and such. But a good community should be built around having manners/respect for each other and be somewhat humble? Although I believe it’s a rarity now in the internet world since people remain anonymous. Sure someone may not be as good and always crash their ground fleet into your figs, or they keep getting fig ran, but you could always teach/point out what they did wrong after the war, or after the round is over and what not. I think this can be expanded into more different situations and you guys should get the idea I’m trying to get across.
I would be respectful and nice to people if they are themselves. If they are not so full of themselves and always WHINE WHINE WHINE whenever something happens. Or people who just keep bashing others in forums and such.
