Topic: Car Question

Ok im checkin out a 2001 Mustang GT Convertible V8.

It is almost perfect for me

But its an automatic

I found a 2003 5 spd manual tranny that goes with a v6

But idk if they will fit

My question is, will they fit each other? Idk how to research the question so i figured i'd hop on here.

I'd ask whoever you trust to repair your transmission

if they're both FORD Mustang parts they might

you can also go to the library and find a CHILTON GUIDE for each model

A Chilton Guide basically tells you how to build the car from a pile of parts.  With exploded views of assemblies.

But even if the screwholes line up, you may not want to, because they cut those gears by robot guided by computer and it may be the additional horsepower of a V8 was not calculated.  You might strip the clutch.

or it could be that Ford used the same transmission for years.  CHILTON should probably give enough specs on the transmission that you can tell if there's big changes.

Ummmmm, I know the same works for most import vehicles but I'm not so sure about Fords. Much like Chris said, ask someone that you trust to work on your car because with the way the American auto companies are atm, you're not going to get much help if it doesn't work out.
