I personally don't care as long as I can still exercise my 5th amendment right and tell them "I am not speaking to you."

Otherwise, the law does get in the way by preventing stupid people from being stupid to the benefit of the police. If they are dumb enough to not know their rights, then who cares if they ignorantly reveal incriminating information?
