Do you consider this scenario racist?
A group of black people dressed in scruffy hip hop style clothes who are talking in ebonics are walking around an upper middle class white neighborhood.
Are the white people who live in this neighborhood justified in feeling suspicious, and are the police justified in approaching them? Second, is any feeling or act of suspicion on the part of the citizens or police rightly considered racist?
a scenario cant be racist. only people are racist. so no, it isnt racist.
I once called the police for a similar situation. However, it wasn't merely because they were black or hispanic, rather it sounded as if they were in the middle of a heated argument as they walked down the street; two men and a female. That was the only reason I took notice of it at all. Concerned for the safety of whomever was the object of their ire, I phoned the police on the non-emergency number for an area check.
if the reason why they called the police was purely because of race, then it was racist of them. if they did it because how they were talking or how they were dressed in regards to the setting they were in, it wouldnt be racist, if its partially about the race, then its partially racist of them...
Hey if i saw a group of white people dressed in baggy clothes and talking in ebonics I would call the cops.
The clothes you wear sends a message of who you identify yourself with. If you dress like a petty criminal, then we have a right to treat you like a petty criminal.

It IS Profiling. Obviously, they are not part of the neighborhood.
Its a residential neighborhood as you stated ..... Therefor, they can be questioned why they are in the area.
Police can ask any question they want.

If a bunch of white collared, kacki pants white boys were walking through a Crime Infested, Project region of any inner-city, The Police should ask these white boys what THEY are up to as well.
1. The blacks/African-Americans/Negros/Rapper-wannabes would be "Indignant" to be "Cestioned" by the "Po Po."
2. The Whites would most likely be courteous, and understanding.

A dodgey crowd was hanging around some boat storage sheds on the waterfront near where I live. They had been broken into a couple of times in the past, but no serious damage or anything of value taken. So now and then someone in the area would call the local cop shop and ask them to come down. The cops eventually told us that if you want them to show up then you should call the emergency number, by calling the local station you are not doing anyone any favours - assuming that your state (country, county, whatever) has plenty of incoming lines.

since when do you need a cop to run teenagers out of your neighborhood? get your neighbors and tell them to get the hell out and don't come back. IF they holler for police tell the police the same damn thing. This country was built by men who brought drama, dammit

It's not the fact they are black that would make people suspicious but that it is a large group of young males dressed and acting in a certain way. It is not racist to be suspicious of them, but it might be a sign of a racism for their race to stick in your mind.

In the future you won't have to worry about this type of incident. Our Govt. will soon be telling us how to dress. But I won't be around to see it happen. They will probably shoot me because I believe in the Constitution and it's limited powers that our Founding Fathers wrote into the Constitution. Unfortunetly 90% of Americans don't know what it means. For example Article I, section 8, ofthe Constitution states the Fed Govt is allowed to own the seat of Govt(Whitehouse) and the 10 sq. miles around it(Washington D. C.) Forts, Magazines(Ammo dumps), Arsenals, dock-yards, and other NEEDFUL BUILDINGS. So tell me where does the Govt. get it's authority to conficate state land. The Govt. has taken away States right. to self Govern. I would be happy to help EDUCATE anybody on the original intention of our Founding Fathers intentions and what they meant by limited Federal Govt.
Poor people should scare you because they are voting your freedoms away. They continuallt vote for pGovt over the Oeople not by the People.
