Topic: Homeworld 2 short story

-Starts out with a quote from another story I made that inspired me kinda.

Gun boats let rip their chain guns, Missile frigates let their Havoc missiles fly, Plasma destroyers let their weapons bleed raw energy blasts. And ship of the line Battleships let cry the combined technology of the Alliance onto the enemy.
As the fighter bay let their boys fly into battle the battleships moved closer to the flagship in an effort to protect it against the waves of missiles and beams coming from the large void between the forces.

"Incoming hyperspace windows." Resonated through the bridge. The captain and his retinue stood around the tactical map as several battleship signatures and many frigates popped onto view. The captain smashed his fist on the the table in fury. "Where the hell are our reinforcements?" He yelled as he zoomed out to long range scans. "They seem to have encountered a hyperspace inhibitor field, as have we. This is a trap." His second in command said.

The officers hung their heads in shame for not realizing this sooner. "This is not the time to give up and let ourselves be destroyed. Send out the probes."
"Probes sent." Sounded through the ships female AI voice, "One probe intercepted by enemy scouts." Everyone waited in anticipation as the enemy ships had ceased firing and started moving towards the fleet at minimal speed. Hoping the other side would capitulate. "Others probes are reporting a facility with several power grids 500km south-east of our position."

"Send second squad to destroy it. Rest of the fleet thrusters full reverse, start firing again and stay out of range of their main group."
And again the fleet fired its rounds into the enemy fleet but did little damage as damaged ships were quickly protected by those that weren't. The main battleships had dozens of repair units crawling across their hulls and more hovering around them.

The fighting was fierce and battlecruisers on both sides started to falter. The friendly cruisers turned around and were able to move more quickly while ion cannons and torpedo frigates let their weapons fire at the same target over and over again. The enemy preferred to inflict widespread damage and take out engines.
More than twenty had to be left behind to fend for themselves and the captain saw the lonely frigates firing unaided shot after another as fast as it would allow pushing the ship to its limits before self destructing whenever a marine frigate would start the

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...
