In 1621 the Indians in Massachusetts sat down with English settlers at a huge feast to celebrate the harvest

since then we've celebrated a day of Thanks to God for the bounty of our lives

Abraham Lincoln made it a national holiday in 1864, and traditionally its celebrated with family and a huge feast centered around a 10kg+ turkey, cranberry sauce, baked  yams, etc
