Re: Abortion
An abortion ban is useless in many cases, and it is a denial of a woman's rights.
A ban on abortion is morally disputable, but I think that can not be a reason to ban abortion all together. When the state bans it, a women who would otherwise opt for abortion resorts into worse things, like illegal abortion, child murder (wich happened a lot in times when it was absolutely forbidden; they let the baby sleep with them in the regular bed, where it suffocated), child neglect, or abuse (not really unlikely in cases of rape or something) or abandonment. Women who feel morally obliged to not do an abortion probably won't do one when it's allowed anyway. We ought to leave the option for those who just don't know how to deal with the baby, in what aspect that may be.
If you believe that leaving an option open to those that don't consider themselves fit to be the child's mother, is just incredibly wrong and, as it is mentioned above, not too different from slavery; as the state influences a person's entire life out of dubious ideological reasons. That is morally wrong..
