Topic: Abortion

Lets discuss and debate our positions on abortion now.

My opinion is that abortion should be legal, because despite its moral or emotional costs there would be immense physical costs in terms of finances and public order if it were to be outlawed. It has nothing do with the right to choose because I think rights can not be empirically tested, but simply that abortion serves as a very instrumental function as a means of population control.

Re: Abortion

and spares you child support

its killing innocent people so you can screw some more, a degenerate practice that was never guaranteed regardless what the court says.

Re: Abortion

as for population control, what's the point?? pop grows at a constant 4% every hour anyway lol

sorry, onto more serious issues

can't you be more original??

I've debated this too many times to count in my short, thus far, life and honestly it got old about 10 years ago... roughly 60% will find it ok under certain circumstance (i.e. rape, broken condom, etc.) and the other 40% with be against it to the point of wanting to murder the "murderous" parents of the aborted... it REALLY gets old quick...

as for my opinion.. it's YOUR child... it's YOUR choice

I could care less what you do, me, I wouldn't abort unless my fiancee got raped in which case I'd still be a murderous parent cause I'd kill the guy that felt the urge to rape her...

new topic please? anyone?

if physical costs outweighed moral and emotional costs, slavery would still be legal.

Re: Abortion

Abortion should only be morally wrong until a certain stage (That is, not lawfully wrong).

Re: Abortion

As abortion goes.. I think you should be required to fulfill a court sanction check list, much like Marriage.

You must go through a course, have an understanding of what your about to do.
You must fill out a petition for requesting an Abortion, that must be court signed, by either Magistrate or Judge, in which you must explain why you believe your abortion is morally correct, and why you don't believe it would be right to birth the child, and why you chose this over an Adoption alternative, with an option to appeal such court outcomes, should they deny you - Provided they will tell you why you were denied.
I also think that it should be within the early pregnancy, as well as special cases such as rape or molestation, and incestuous convinced births should be prioritized as such.
With out the Court signed license no Abortion clinic should be allowed to perform an abortion.

Protect the mother, and the child - If a court can decide the outcome of a 1-18 year old in a custody battle, it should be the same for a 1 day - 9 month old fetus, should we confide in the courts we shall respect it as such.

Re: Abortion

well, either the fetus has the right to life or it doesnt. if it doesnt, the court as no place regulating such a thing and if it does, the court place has no place allowing a termination unless its an immediate threat to the mother's life.

That's only if you look at abortion from a question of ethics, rather than consequences.

Re: Abortion

The Supreme Court has ruled that making mom wait 24 hrs to get an abortion is an unconstitutional infringement of her right to get abortion.

And in Kansas the AG was trying to get case info because he has reports of abortions in the 8th month and he may leave office before all the stalling motions are heard, so it doesn't look like regulation of the industry is practical

and that clogs the crap out of the courts.  even with therapeutic court reforms going on, there's still not nearly enough space for crap like this.  coat hanger, push her down the stairs, anything to keep roe v. wade alive. WOOHOO!

Re: Abortion

Why is it that once a month or so someone makes a thread about abortion. Either we have a MALE neo-con telling women what do do with their bodies, or else pondering the issue as if it were a scientific theory.

Here's why it should be legal:
1) People (both women and men) are human
2) Humans are fallible, ergo men and women make mistakes.
3) Most cultures and societies believe in giving people the chance to fix their mistakes.
4) Abortion gives women a means to fix a mistake (if they so wish).

Courts already have the right to chose death for a person, an adult as it were, and children depending the reason can be trailed as an adult, in turn courts can decide the out come of every born human, why not unborn? Through the proper channel's i mentioned above i believe this is the best way to handle abortion.

Re: Abortion

As for the discussion on courts.

Listen right now courts are fouling this up because it's a POLITICAL matter, of course they fouling it up, the simple fact is if you want the CLOSEST thing to a good system concerning this matter, you must do it as i purposed, in turn with a regulated system, it WOULDN'T TAKE MONTHS, just like it doesn't TAKE months for a Marriage license to be valid for use to obtain a marriage certificate, as for the 24 hours to get an abortion, HOGWASH POLITICS, My system is the best we will ever come to a resolution on such a controversial issue, take it as it is.
