A friend's coworker was a contestant and got through the first two days, he said she got airtime because she happpened to be a dwarf with a great voice, but they make you audition with songs THEY choose and you get 8 hours to learn them

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
