Topic: Modabuses R us?
Since i am not allowed to discuss specific blocks, i will keep this post as 'general' as possible, discussing only the rules concerning blocks and the law. The former is, i realise, quite up for interpretation by the mod team and Stefan, the latter, however, isnt. Let me also once again stress that ive always supported the mods, and realise their job is a tough one, and that i make this post to actually PROTECT them, you don't want to go down the road of abuse.
Reasons for blocking :
- Nowhere in the rules does it say that things happening outside the IC website domain can be reason for blocking a player. Seems obvious right?
- There is also no provision in the rules that allows mods or devs to block a player at their whim. I checked. You could put that in there, but as for now, it's simply not there.
The law :
- Linking to another website from your website, then claiming that the website you linked to 'is yours', even though you had no hand in its conception, nor ever procured its ownership, is a fraudulent claim of ownership. It's like me grabbing a bottle of spraypaint, tagging my name on someone's house, then trying to evict them since 'it is obviously mine ... see, my name is on the wall'. In laymen's terms, thats called a scam. It is obviously illegal the world over.
- Threatening consequences for not handing over something that isnt yours to begin with is called blackmail, and once again, it is illegal in about every country worldwide that has a written law.
Once again, i cannot discuss specific blocks, but i would urge the mod team to have an internal discussion about breaking the law, breaking your own rules, and abuse of power, if such might pertain to recent blocks. And what the consequences for each of the mods' moral integrity would be if such a case would exist. I for one wouldnt want to be dragged down to the level of abuse that not only involves breaking the rules of the game, but even involves breaking the law. But that's just me, and i'm not a mod, so what do i know?
