Topic: Join a Galaxy Bug

Tried to join a galaxy said my name was already in use backed out and see that it shows I have joined click on it and get the message saying You have encountered a game error. If the problem persists, mention it in the Bugs forum.

It's possible you were using a name either in your empire or leader name that is in use by someone else. Did you try joining using a few different names?
