I have decided to play my first round since the update, though I am in testing Gal..  so I guess that counts.

Re: The IC Player Revolution Thread

I am in Super Nova, trying to garner support and awareness of the issue among the players.  I sent this message to some of the the players there.

"Message sent to players of neighboring families:

(In Character)

The Xentia Faction has perceived widespread subjugation and exploitation of the weak by the strong here in the Super Nova galaxy and other galaxies across the universes.

Many elder sentient beings, especially those aligned with the Galactic Overlords and their Xenox minions, tend to derive their strength by feeding from the newly evolved sentient beings.

This injustice must not continue.  Our repeated appeals to the Emperor on this matter have gone unanswered.

We fear that either the Emperor is aligned with the Galactic Overlords, or that the Emperor is under their control.

The Xentia Faction have started a revolution against the Galactic Overlords and, if necessary, even the Imperial forces of the Emperor himself.

We intend to usurp the Galactic Overlords and if necessary even the Emperor.

If the Emperor is under the hypnotism of the evil Galactic Overlords, we will rescue him and perhaps even retain him as our leader if he is proven to be of sound mind.

If the Emperor is proven to have authorized or is intentionally complicit with the Galactic Overlords, we will have no choice but to usurp him, charge him with crimes against sentience, and facilitate the dictates of the judgement of justice upon him.

Hmm.  Awesome, Revenant.  Seems that although I signed up to be part of the test galaxy, they didn't allow me to participate.

That's good, I guess.  I like my style though, making it 'in character' and all, part of a story.

Your way is good, too.  Have you sent your version of the message to many players, Rchie?

Really?  If so we're about ready to have a vote then for leadership of the Player Revolution?  I'm seeing only the usual people, a lot of moderators.

What I was thinking was starting a poll period, whereby say over the course of 2 or three days, votes will be collected for leadership.  The vote will be binding.

Can we trust that moderators will keep an eye out for multis voting?

Before the vote, though, nominations for the player's revolution leader should be posted here along with messages of acceptance by the nominee and their election campaign message to the player community.

IC player revolution leadership campaign can begin now.

This is not trollmanship, although I appreciate the compliment ;p

I'm trying to bring the players' awareness to the IC Player's Revolution.  I'm trying to make it a democratic process here.

Aren't there any nominations for leadership besides me?  Is there to be no election campaign?  If so, I'm not sure I want to accept the nomination of leader.  In fact, I'll make it a part of my election campaign:

I will not accept nomination for leadership of the Player's Revolution if there is to be no other candidates nominated, nor any campaign messages by nominees nor any debate.  In other words, if this Revolution isn't going to be a democratic one, I'm not interested.

As interim leader, my responsibility here is to ensure that the Player's Revolutionary leader, whomever it will be, will be elected through a legitimate democratic process.

Okay now for my  campaign message:

My very intent by starting this revolution is to make IC itself a democracy, with shared ownership by the players for the players.

Not only is this in the best interest of the game's development and in the best interest of the game's financial success, but it is also in the best of the players', the developers - everyone's best interests.

Why there isn't a player-owned game out there, where by purchasing the game you also end up owning shares in the company which designs it, is beyond my comprehension.  This should have been done years ago in my honest opinion.

We should make this work so it proves as an example to everyone everywhere that it is the best model for online communities - shared ownership and shared voting rights by community members.

I want to make IC a democracy with shared ownership for all players.  And if I am elected leader, I will work toward that end.

Re: The IC Player Revolution Thread

Anyway, still trying to get the word out and waiting for other nominations for leader...

Can a mass message be sent out to all members telling them that we are awaiting nominations for the IC player revolution's leader?

There are a lot of players who don't check forum; a lot of players who don't play anymore because they've given up on this game.

Maybe we could send a mass e-mail out to all user e-mails explaining that we want nominations for the player's revolution leadership?  This would require moderators' help...

Re: The IC Player Revolution Thread

I made a post about the revolution and your points. Somebody didn't agree with it, obviously.

Re: The IC Player Revolution Thread

Hey, I know.  Maybe we could nominate Flint as leader of the Player's Revolution.  I mean surely he'd represent a different perspective than my own.

Also, I think I could beat him in an election campaign, as well as a debate.

Has anyone else found anyone interested in being leader?

I'm not off track.  I am doing what I feel is right.  We need nominations for leadership, an election campaign, debates, and then an election of a leader by mod-supported democratic process.

If it doesn't happen by democratic process, the idea of a Player's Revolution should die.  As much as it would pain me see see such happen, I believe it is the right thing to do.  For if the process by which a Player's Revolution occurs isn't going to be democratic, such a Player's Revolution shouldn't happen.
